JETCAM Orders Controller 4 Released

JETCAM International s.a.r.l. has announced the release of JOC 4, an update to its automation front end to its nesting software, JETCAM Expert.

JOC4 premium automation nest export

Enhanced nest data reporting functionality

JOC 4 has a completely rewritten nest batch information export dialog, allowing users to easily extract any information on nests, material, stock and orders, for import into other data systems such as ERP. Users can select multiple nests, choose the data type and fields to export, with a CSV file immediately available.

Wider Expert nesting software support

JOC 4 now also supports JETCAM Expert Lite and Expert 1, widening the range of nesting systems that can take advantage of its ordering and nest viewing capabilities.

Material translation files

Useful for users exporting data from CAD/bending software with different material information, the new material translations functionality allows mapping of external material names to JETCAM material types – this is especially useful for customers cutting the same material with different gasses. This ensures that customers can correctly map material information as parts are imported, and also ensures that the correct material data is displayed in subsequent exported data.

CAD Nest Splitter upgraded

The CAD Splitter, used for splitting DXF nests down into individual DXF files, has been updated to allow a processor to be run after splitting. This can be useful for users wishing to extract additional information from text found within each DXF, such as material, thickness, rotations allowed, etc., which can then be used during the CAD import process as normal.

Hundreds of other changes throughout the software

Many other areas of the software have benefited from incremental updates. JOC now supports soft licensing, with one-click updating of maintenance expiry online. Other changes include additional configuration options for JETCAM’s Ultra Performance Nesting option, enhanced data exchange with other systems during CAD import, an upgraded ‘Copy/Mirror’ function of complete assemblies, improvements in Progressive Nesting, updates on the Orders search function, and new RCP (Remote Control Processing) overrides and functions.

Free trial for existing nesting users

Existing JETCAM Expert nesting customers can take advantage of a free 60-day trial offer, allowing them to test JOC 4’s automation without risk. A dedicated online video tutorial course in the JETCAM University ensures that users can be up and running within a few hours. Existing customers should contact their JETCAM reseller for further information on the 60-day trial. Terms and conditions apply.

JOC 4 is available for immediate download free of charge for all existing customers with a current maintenance contract.

Buildots Announces Delay Forecast

LONDON, UK, May 17, 2024 – AI construction technology leader Buildots has announced the launch of its new Delay Forecast feature, an AI-powered tool that predicts delay risks and alerts construction teams about pace issues so that they can proactively mitigate potential delays before they escalate. The feature also includes granular, activity-level insights into the root causes of delays, enabling project managers to continually improve performance and strategy.

The new Delay Forecast tool from Buildots helps construction projects stay on track by identifying activities at risk of delay and enabling project teams to mitigate those risks. (PRNewsfoto/Buildots)

Intuitively integrated into Buildots’ main dashboard, Delay Forecast flags activities that are at risk of falling behind schedule, quantifies those risks by providing projections of forecasted delays, as well as recommendations for pace corrections to mitigate and prevent delays. When users get delay alerts, they can input new pace assumptions and see how these changes might affect the timeline, allowing them to optimize and fine-tune strategies and determine the best path forward. The dashboard also enables project teams to track risk trends week by week, allowing them to see the real-life impact of their decisions.

The feature was developed after research performed by Buildots found that 62% of construction site activities consistently run slower than planned, and that 25% of activities run at half their planned pace. The findings also indicated that many times – even when critical activities performed poorly week after week – these issues go unnoticed until they have already significantly impacted project timelines.

“At Buildots we believe that accurate progress data, performance indicators, and data-driven insights are critical to solving issues that plague almost all construction projects, such as delays and inefficiency,” said Aviv Leibovici, Buildots co-founder and CPO. “Those core beliefs inspire all that we do, from developing the Performance Driven Construction Management (PDCM) method, to designing new tools like Delay Forecast.”

The new feature has been beta-tested on a number of global construction sites and has been shown to facilitate a 50% reduction in delay times when used together with the PDCM method. One of those sites is a large-scale Danish government complex, currently being built by leading Scandinavian contractor NCC Denmark. According to project manager Niels Frank Jensen, “Using Delay Forecast, not only can we now identify risks very early, but also inform our trades of the exact pace required to meet the schedule. Trades can adjust manpower resources accordingly by viewing quantities of work. We’re finally able to back our instincts and prioritize activities based on actual performance and what’s really at risk.”

Delay Forecast is now available immediately to all current Buildots users and new customers.
