Graebert Introduces ARES Kudo for DWG-Editing

GraebertlogoBERLIN, Germany, Oct 14, 2016 – Graebert GmbH – the pioneer in developing high-performance CAD solutions across desktop, mobile and cloud, introduced the first version of ARES Kudo, a full brower-based DWG editor with features to be gradually released over the coming months.

11ARES Kudo’s ambition is to bring the same level of performance and features that CAD professionals are used to on the desktop but now implemented directly within the browser. The obvious advantage of
a cloud-based solution is to be able to work and access files from any computer, but ARES Kudo has far more to offer.

12Instead of introducing another cloud storage service, ARES Kudo offers the opportunity to become the “hub” for all DWG drawings. Users are invited to connect their existing cloud-storages (which includes
the most popular solutions such as Box, Dropbox or Google Drive) but also to vertical, industry-specific solutions. Users may for example access drawings stored on the servers of Onshape.

With ARES Kudo you can connect several of these cloud storages and search for DWG files in all of them simultaneously, before opening the file for viewing and editing purposes.

13Another interesting aspect of this cloud-based solution is the user rights management and sharing capabilities. ARES Kudo gives the owner of the DWG file a constant perspective of who has been granted access to any specific file. With ARES Kudo, you can share drawings with co-workers and make sure everybody is working on the latest version as well as sharing view-only rights to select partners or customers. Compared to other sharing methods (such as sending a PDF), view-only access has the
advantage to be both removable and always up-to-date.

At its Annual Meeting, Graebert explained how its cloud-based solution is fully interconnected with its other CAD platforms for desktop (ARES Commander for Windows, MacOS or Linux) and mobile (ARES Touch for Android and iOS). Altogether, these three products form what Graebert calls a “trinity of CAD”, converging into a unique user experience. The three solutions are bundled into a unique subscription allowing users to take advantage of each platform with similar features but different use cases. ARES Kudo and ARES Touch will therefore come at no additional cost for the subscribers of ARES Commander.

ares-kudo-new-2Robert Graebert, CTO of Graebert commented on the release schedule of ARES Kudo: “ The features will be gradually released and synchronized with the release of the Service Packs of ARES Commander 2017. End of November, we will offer a limited number of subscribers of ARES
Commander to sign up for a Beta. Customers will be granted access to a first version of ARES Kudo including both viewing and sharing capabilities. This first version will be further extended to all our subscribers from the release of the Service Pack 1 of ARES Commander 2017. Simultaneously, the Beta users will be granted access to the new editing features. We believe this methodical roll-out process will help us to collect valuable feedback to drive our development priorities.”

Graebert’s cloud-based CAD solution is also renowned for its collaboration with Onshape, the first full-cloud 3D MCAD solution whose 2D module Onshape Drawing is in fact a custom version of ARES
Kudo. Graebert’s CAD technology is powered by a custom API and can be customized for the specific needs of large accounts and development partners.

Robert Graebert further commented “ ARES Kudo helps Graebert to reach a larger audience among developers. More explicitly there are three main use cases for developers considering ARES Kudo. First of all, our trinity concept, with a shared API and similar features for DWG editing across desktop, mobile and cloud is of course of high interest for any developer of a CAD solution looking for an easy transition to the cloud. Graebert can offer rebranded OEM versions customized to any of our partner needs. Secondly, some cloud-based solutions want an integration with Kudo as a cloud-storage solution, allowing their users to share DWG files with ARES Kudo for viewing and editing purposes. And lastly we also see potential partners interested in a cloud-based DWG viewer they could integrate into their solutions and that would include a set of tools for annotation and collaboration.”
