ABB Releases ReliaGear UL 1558 Switchgear

ReliaGear UL 1558 low-voltage (LV) switchgear, from ABB Electrification Products division, features 100 percent-rated Emax 2 circuit breakers with embedded logic capabilities that make the switchgear safer.

“Smart” features enable ReliaGear UL 1558 LV switchgear to be integrated fully into smart grids, buildings and industrial plants. Some of these features include a synchro-check function integrated into the trip unit, automatic transfer scheme options, simultaneous or redundant communications, seven industrial protocols, a power controller function, a network analyzer, and generator protection functions. ReliaGear UL 1558 LV switchgear also has the main-tie-main breaker contained in one section and widths ranging from 18-38 inches and section depths of 72 or 84 inches.

Features of the ReliaGear UL 1558 LV switchgear that foster safety and reliability include safety shutters and insulating barriers between sections and around the bus compartment to isolate it from the cable compartment. Additionally, no ventilation is required in the front of the equipment. Optional safety features include arc flash detection, arc mitigation solutions and remote operation of circuit breakers with the Ekip Link system.

ReliaGear UL 1558 LV switchgear also features field-interchangeable trip units: Ekip for distribution protection and Ekip G for generator protection. Rogowski coils eliminate the need to replace current transformers when adjusting the circuit breaker current rating. Other features include standard built-in top and bottom horizontal wireways for control wires with no additional height and standard white paint mounting pans provided for each instrument compartment.
