Theorem Releases 3D PDF Publisher for CATIA V5 v22

STAFFORDSHIRE, UK, Apr 9, 2019 – Theorem Solutions has announced the release of its latest 3D PDF Publisher for CATIA V5 from the Publish 3D product range.

V22.0 supports from CATIA V5 R24 up to and including CATIA V5 R28, and includes a number of new and improved product features and enhancements.

Theorem’s Publish 3D3D PDF products enable the publishing of 3D CATIA data directly from within the CATIA V5 design application in to an interactive 3D PDF document format, or a HTML5 output.

Other features and enhancements in this release include:

  • A wireframe graphical representation of CATIA V5 axis systems is now able to be exported into the PDF output using the axis_systems on advanced option- Having a graphical representation of the CAD defined axis systems in the PDF output allows the PDF user to understand the positional axis available in the CAD model. Creating the wire frame representations also allows the measurements between the model and axis system to be taken.
  • The latest release of Adobe’s API’s enable the user to control the initial render mode of the 3D view- The initial render mode of the CAD model e.g. Illustration, Solid, Shaded with edges etc. can be pre-set, where previously the changes to the render mode needed to be performed manually once the PDF had been generated.
  • File attachments can now be achieved using file names derived from the currently processed filename- Using these optional variables, a single generic attachment file can be used. This would allow the actual name of the file to be attached to be automatically resolved based upon the name of the input file that is being processed.
  • Mass property views are now exported to the PDF data when using the mprops option- This allows the mass property values to be displayed in the PDF output. The mass property values are useful information to have available especially in the field of data exchange where the mass property values are used as a means to analyse the results of translated data.

The published PDF document contains embedded interactive 3D representations of the native CATIA V5 data (within pre-defined templates),offering greater levels of Intellectual Property (IP) protection with support for separate passwords to control either the access to the document as well as separate passwords to enable any editing of the 3D PDF output.

The Publish 3D product supports Model Based Definition (MBD) and 3D annotations and dimensions (PMI/FTA) from CATIA V5 into the 3DPDF format.

Anybody with access to the freely available Adobe Reader, either on a PC, tablet or smartphone can access the interactive 3D data and are able to view, mark up and interrogate the document without the use of specialist CAD software. As 3D PDF is an ISO standard (ISO 24517-1 (PDF/E))the technology is easily integrated and can effectively become the protocol for easy, seamless document creation and communication.

Theorem’s strategic partnership with Dassault Systemes ensures that there is parallel development between the latest releases of CATIA V5, and Theorem’s Publish 3D products, allowing Theorem to continue to provide publishing solutions for the CATIA community.
