SprutCAM X 16 Released

SprutCAM Tech, LTD. has announced the global release of SprutCAM X 16. Version X 16 is a substantial release introducing many new features in all areas of the product including a clean redesigned UI; new RockSolid simulation; updated smart hints; advanced CAD editor; new Probing group of operations; Swiss-type machines, U-axis turning and painting robots support. In addition, the latest version of SprutCAM X offers improvements in welding, wire EDM, MachineMaker and much more.

Interface

They paid more attention to detail and stability; a brand-new high-tech style of the main window allows users to work even smoother and faster. Tooltips have become interactive, they now clearly show where and how the operation parameters are used, so we called them Smart Hints.

Solid Simulation

Advanced RockSolid simulation technology shows the result of machining with greater accuracy compared to voxel type simulation. This is especially noticeable for large parts with small elements.

Swiss Machining

Now SprutCAM X supports Swiss-type CNC turning centers: programming, cycle time optimization, and full machine and process simulation. The system provides automatic transformation of a sequence of linear operations into a cyclic parallel program. It includes the automatic operations reordering and the sync points placement.

U-axis turning

U-axis turning makes it possible to machine large, unbalanced parts like valve bodies in a single, continuous cut, with the workpiece clamped in place. On such machines the workpiece is placed stationary, and the tool is rotated. U-axis is used to change the machining radius.

Probing

The new SprutCAM X 16 release offers a powerful suite of probing cycles that combine machining and inspection into one complete NC program. Now you can use the following cycles: single surface, hole/boss, groove/web, internal/external, internal/external corner probing.

Welding

New welding operations have appeared in the system. The Welding 6D operation provides Seam, Stitch, Tack and Spot welding. New Point Welding operation can be used to Tack weld and Spot weld. Points can be moved by dragging and used to build a chain of trajectories. It is also possible to rotate the tool axis in 6D by dragging the visual vector.

Painting

Users can now program and manage painting operations. Simulation is provided for flat fan spray guns and spray tool group was added with the following tools: full cone spray gun, hollow cone spray gun, elliptic flat fan spray gun, elliptic linear fan spray gun and rectangular flat fan spray gun.

CAD updates

Dozens of improvements have been made to SprutCAM X CAD module: improved stability and performance, new sketching tools, significantly updated Extrude and Revolve operation. You can snap to points and faces of existing geometry while sketching or dragging surfaces. Added a visibility control panel for SprutCAM objects: 3D Model, Part, Machine, etc. The user can now import curves, edges, and faces from the 3D Model into a sketch.

MachineMaker

With robots and mechanisms online library you can explore 300+ ready robots, positioners, and other mechanisms. The updated MachineMaker now allows to assemble a Digital Twin of any 3-axis milling machine, and a new interactive 3D Model Simplifier allows to remove inner faces and small objects from any 3D Model.

New Cutting Tools Import API

Using Cutting Tools Import API now you can write your own programs to import cutting tools into the SprutCAM X from external TDM/PDM/PLM systems. It allows to create new turning, milling, and other custom tools by specifying your own geometric dimensions and properties and then save them to a library file.

These are just some of the new features and improvements available in SprutCAM X16. For more information, please visit https://kb.sprutcam.com/docs/SprutCAM/16/en/10003.html or https://sprutcam.com/.
