Established in Germany in 1952, JOOLA has dominated the professional table tennis scene in the United States for over 15 years. Partnering with North American Table Tennis (NATT) early on, JOOLA established a strong presence through the North American Tour and NATT‘s flagship event, the North American Teams Championships. Each event in the Tour generally drew in 200 to 300 participants and showcased about 30 JOOLA tables, while the Teams event exposed the brand to nearly 1000 players, who competed on about 150 JOOLA tables. Keysight, Synopsys, Ansys Introduce RF Design Migration Flow

from TSMC’s N16 Process to N6RF+

SANTA ROSA, CA, Apr 25, 2024 – Keysight Technologies, Inc., Synopsys, Inc., and Ansys introduce a new integrated radio frequency (RF) design migration flow from TSMC’s N16 process to its N6RF+ technology to address the power, performance, and area (PPA) requirements of today’s most demanding wireless integrated circuit applications. The new migration workflow integrates millimeter wave (mmWave) and RF solutions from Keysight, Synopsys, and Ansys into an efficient design flow that streamlines re-design of passive devices and design components to TSMC’s more advanced RF process.

This RF design migration initiative extends TSMC’s Analog Design Migration (ADM) methodology with additional capabilities for RF circuit designers. Beyond the productivity gains offered by ADM, the Keysight, Synopsys, and Ansys migration workflow demonstrates significant power reduction for a 2.4GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) design re-targeted to the N6RF+ process.

Key components of the design migration flow include:

RF circuit designers can adopt the migration flow to rapidly re-design their devices to the N6RF+ process specifications and accelerate time-to-market. Keysight RFPro enables parameterization of passive devices including inductors and automatically re-creates highly accurate simulation models with layout tuned to the new process. Designers view the re-created device layout in Synopsys Custom Compiler along with synthesized inductors from Ansys VeloceRF, and then perform interactive EM analysis in complex wireless chips.

Honeywell Develops Lightweight Sensor Tech for Lilium Jet

CHARLOTTE, NC, Apr 25, 2024 – Honeywell announced it was selected by Lilium, the developer of the first all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) jet, to supply propulsion unit position sensors for the Lilium Jet. Honeywell designed these sensors, known as ‘resolvers,’ specifically for the needs of the Lilium Jet. The sensors will play a critical role in accurately sensing the engine’s position, ensuring that the jet can safely reach the exact position required for a successful takeoff.

Creating sensing solutions for regional air mobility supports Honeywell’s portfolio alignment to three compelling megatrends: automation, the future of aviation and energy transition. Honeywell is an investor in Lilium and supplies many key components for the Lilium Jet, including e-motors for the engines, avionics, onboard thermal management systems, and the flight control computer.

Lilium is creating the world’s first eVTOL jet and aims to develop zero operating emissions, accessible modes of high-speed, regional transportation. The Lilium Jet is powered by 30 electric ducted fan engines, each of which need to move precisely from a vertical to horizontal position to support takeoff and forward movement in the air. This action is controlled by a resolver, traditionally a heavier piece of equipment composed of coils of copper wire and magnetic steel.

Honeywell, working closely with Lilium, created a customized, solid-state resolver using patented spiral magnet technology and magneto resistive sensors that can determine the position of magnetic objects. The resolver is substantially less expensive and lighter-weight than traditional counterparts. Although specific to the Lilium Jet, this Honeywell-patented technology can be replicated across other types of electric aircraft and will play an important role in furthering the adoption of advanced air mobility.

Digital Twin Capabilities Periodic Table v1.1 Released

BOSTON, MA, Apr 25, 2024 – Digital Twin Consortium (DTC) announced version 1.1 of the Digital Twin Capabilities Periodic Table (CPT), an architecture and technology agnostic requirements definition framework for organizations that want to design, develop, deploy, and operate digital twins based on use case capability requirements versus the features of technology solutions.

The CPT follows a periodic table approach with capabilities grouped around common characteristics. It provides visual guidance for collaboration, brainstorming, and making capability requirements explicit. The latest iteration reflects our commitment to continuous improvement, driven by our community’s valuable insights and active participation.

  • Consolidated and Refined Capabilities – Extended Reality (XR): They’ve consolidated augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) into Extended Reality (XR), reflecting the convergence of these technologies and supporting an integrated approach to immersive experiences.
  • Domain Specific Data Management – They’ve reclassified temporal data stores under “Domain Specific Data Management,” acknowledging the variety of domain-specific data types, such as geospatial data, essential for digital twins.
  • Structured Abbreviations – Moving beyond sequential numbering, version 1.1 adopts structured abbreviations for each capability. This change facilitates quicker reference and aligns with our goal of making the CPT more intuitive and accessible.
  • Capability Mapping – To ease the transition from the initial framework, we provide a detailed mapping from the 1.0 to 1.1 capabilities. This guide ensures that existing users can adapt to the updated version with minimal disruption.

Autodesk, Nemetschek to Advance Open, Interoperable Workflows

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Apr 25, 2024 – Autodesk, Inc. announced an interoperability agreement with the Nemetschek Group to improve open collaboration and efficiencies for the architecture, engineering, construction and operations (AECO) and media and entertainment (M&E) industries. The agreement will enhance existing interoperability between the two companies’ industry cloud and desktop products and improve the fluent exchange of information across solutions.

Whether constructing buildings or highways or producing media assets, working with cloud-connected tools powers automation and unlocks valuable insights for better decisions at every stage of a project. But too often, people, processes, and data are siloed due to software and file incompatibility, resulting in inefficient workflows.

VÉLIZY-VILLACOUBLAY, France, Apr 25, 2024 – Dassault Systèmes announced IFRS unaudited estimated financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024. This quarter’s revenue stood at €1.49B, down 8.7% compared to €1.64B of fourth quarter of 2023, with a profit of €286M.
