Massivit 3D Printing Partners with Sika Deutschland

LOD, Israel, July 3, 2024 – Massivit 3D Printing Technologies, a leading provider of industrial 3D printing systems, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sika Deutschland GmbH (SIKA). Under this agreement, SIKA’s materials will be printed for the first time on Massivit’s 3D printer, the Massivit 10000, and marketed under joint branding starting in the second half of 2024.

Massivit estimates that the cooperation with SIKA will increase the number of potential customers, the use of printers, and the consumption of printing materials. Additionally, this partnership will help the company penetrate additional markets through the diverse range of materials available from SIKA.

  • The printed materials will be branded and marketed under the brand names SikaBiresin CIM and MASSIVIT.
  • Massivit will sell & market the co-branded materials for use with its Massivit printers.
  • The printers using these materials will be branded with the logo “Powered by SikaBiresin”.

SIKA is a global Swiss conglomerate founded over 100 years ago. It is listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange with an estimated market value of approximately 40 billion Swiss Francs and an annual sales volume of approximately 11 billion Swiss Francs. SIKA operates in the construction and waterproofing industry and is engaged in the development and production of various materials for industrial applications including composite materials – a market that Massivit is penetrating.

The Massivit 10000, based on “Cast in Motion” technology, offers rapid printing of molds and tools using specialized materials suited to diverse industries. To date, this technology has been adopted by the automotive, marine, advertising, and entertainment industries, to name a few. The collaboration with SIKA will expand the range of printable materials using the Massivit 10000, helping customers shift from traditional methods to modern 3D printing solutions.

The signing of this agreement coincides with significant company business development activities that have taken place in recent months, such as sales of printers to leading companies worldwide in various sectors:

  • Japanese company Tsujikawa purchased a Massivit 10000 printer. This is the third purchase of a Massivit printer by this customer that previously purchased two Massivit 1800 printers. Tsujikawa operates in the marketing and advertising markets.
  • Bombardier, a Canadian manufacturer of business jets, purchased a Massivit 1800 printer. Bombardier will use this printer to produce prototypes and interior parts for its Aviation Division.
  • Navistar, one of the largest truck and bus manufacturers in the USA, owned by the Volkswagen Group, purchased a Massivit 5000 printer.

Additionally, the company successfully launched the Massivit 3000 printer, capable of printing large objects quickly and at a competitive entry price. This will enable the company to attract more potential customers from the advertising and marketing industry that previously may not have been able to afford to adopt Massivit’s technology due to the cost of its printers.

The Massivit 3000 printer was launched during drupa, the world’s largest international printing industry exhibition. It generated significant interest, and as a result, the company received 15 new orders during the exhibition, which the company intends to supply by the end of 2024.

onsemi Acquires SWIR Vision Systems

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, July 3, 2024 – As part of onsemi’s continuous drive to provide the most robust, cutting-edge technologies for intelligent image sensing, the company announced today it has completed the acquisition of SWIR Vision Systems. SWIR Vision Systems is a leading provider of CQD (colloidal quantum-dot-based) short wavelength infrared (SWIR) technology – a technology that extends the detectable light spectrum to see through objects and capture images that were not previously possible. The integration of this patented technology within onsemi’s industry-leading CMOS sensors will significantly enhance the company’s intelligent sensing product portfolio and pave the way for further growth in key markets including industrial, automotive and defense.

CQD uses nanoparticles or crystals with unique optical and electronic properties that can be precisely tuned to absorb an extended wavelength of light. This technology extends the visibility and detection of systems beyond the range of standard CMOS sensors to SWIR wavelengths. To date, SWIR technology has been limited in adoption due to the high cost and manufacturing complexity of the traditional indium gallium arsenide (InGAas) process. With this acquisition, onsemi will combine its silicon-based CMOS sensors and manufacturing expertise with the CQD technology to deliver highly integrated SWIR sensors at lower cost and higher volume. The result are more compact, cost-effective imaging systems that offer extended spectrum and can be used in a wide array of commercial, industrial and defense applications.

These advanced SWIR sensors are able to see through dense materials, gases, fabrics and plastics, which is essential across many industries, particularly for industrial applications such as surveillance systems, silicon inspection, machine vision imaging and food inspection. In autonomous vehicle imaging, the higher spectra will create better visibility to see through difficult conditions such as extreme darkness, thick fog or winter glare.

SWIR Vision Systems is now a wholly owned subsidiary of onsemi, with its highly skilled team being integrated into the company’s Intelligent Sensing Group. AZCO Acquires S-Y-M Products

Bentley Announces Nicholas Cumins as CEO

Altair to Acquire Metrics Design Automation

TROY, MI, July 2, 2024 – Altair, a global leader in computational intelligence, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding capital stock of Metrics Design Automation Inc. (Metrics), a Canadian company with a game changing simulation as a service (SaaS) business model for semiconductor electronic functional simulation and design verification. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions.

The Metrics digital simulator, DSim, when combined with Altair’s Silicon Debug Tools, will deliver a world-class, advanced simulation environment with superior simulation and debug capabilities in the EDA and semiconductor space. The cloud-based business model has the potential to transform the semiconductor space by making high caliber EDA design tools much more affordable and accessible for companies looking to aggressively scale out simulations to accelerate design cycles.

Today, integrated circuit (IC) design verification has high licensing costs and may require hundreds and sometimes thousands of seats to run a single chip simulation. Additionally, these tools run on desktop machines, and are not typically cloud-native or cloud-enabled. The Altair and Metrics solution delivers the flexibility to run as a desktop app, on your own servers, or in the cloud and can run very large regressions with the customer paying only for what they use. It supports System Verilog and VHDL RTL for digital circuits targeting application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Because of this, simulations can be run concurrently and at scale, removing massive amounts of time and costs from the traditional design cycle.
