nTop 5 Launched for Modeling Technology

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 1, 2024 – nTop, the leader in computational design software for high-performance engineering, announced the launch of nTop 5, the next generation of its flagship product, which includes major integrations from five new partners to its developer ecosystem. Materialise, Autodesk, Hexagon, Intact Solutions, and cloudfluid have all built nTop interoperability into their software to provide users with a better end-to-end process for high-performance designs across simulation and manufacturing applications. This latest update also features a powerful new kernel that enables designs with greater precision and accelerates common design operations, saving engineering time.

“For over 10 years, our mission at nTop has been to help high-performance engineering teams design beyond the limits of traditional software,” said Bradley Rothenberg, co-founder and CEO, nTop. “Our customers have amazed us with the products they’ve developed in nTop – from super-efficient heat exchangers, to ultra-lightweight components for spaceflight and aeronautics, to patient-matched implants that enhance bone fusion, and more forgiving, high-performance golf clubs. nTop 5 is a leap forward in implicit modeling technology and the integration of our new ecosystem partners will expand what our customers will be able to create while streamlining workflows using the tools they know and rely on.”

nTop is at the forefront of implicit modeling technology, allowing users to develop complex, high-performance parts and automate their processes to innovate faster. The company’s software platform seamlessly fits into established workflows and integrates with existing design, analysis, and simulation tools, making it easy to share design knowledge, accelerate iteration, and drive innovation faster than ever before.

Last year, nTop introduced nTop Core, a developer library for software partners that enables their applications to natively read and query information within nTop models. This latest expansion to the developer ecosystem includes mechanical simulation, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and build preparation tools with the following integration partners:

Materialise Magics – Materialise Magics is 3D data and build preparation software and a primary tool on the pathway to production for additively manufactured parts. This integration accelerates the transition from design to manufacturing by massively reducing build preparation and slicing times of high-performance parts through the direct import of nTop designs into Magics. Once inside Magics, users can prepare and validate the build parameters, and generate optimized toolpaths. This integration will be available in early access to select companies in Q3 of 2024 and with a broader release in 2025.

“At Materialise, we believe that the future of 3D printing lies in seamlessly handling large and highly complex files, and our partnership with nTop is a pivotal step in that direction,” said Udo Eberlein, vice president of software, Materialise. “By integrating nTop’s implicit modeling kernel with our Magics software and NxG Build Processor, we are significantly enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the design-to-manufacture process. This collaboration not only eliminates existing limitations but also accelerates the development of innovative 3D printing applications, enabling engineers to bring their high-performance designs to life with unprecedented ease and speed.”

Autodesk Fusion – Implicit interoperability with Autodesk Fusion enables nTop users to perform a variety of downstream tasks in Fusion and more easily complete the design-to-manufacturing workflow. nTop users can effortlessly transition their designs to Autodesk’s comprehensive CAD/CAM tools using the nTop Connector add-in for Fusion. Once inside Fusion, users can interrogate a model, integrate implicit models into larger product assemblies, and prepare models for production with the advanced manufacturing toolsets. The nTop Connector is available today in the Fusion App Store, available to all Fusion and nTop users at no additional cost.

“As they should, today’s product designers and manufacturers expect state-of-the-art computational design tools at their fingertips, seamlessly integrated into their CAD workflows,” said Stephen Hooper, VP of Design & Manufacturing product development, Autodesk. “Connecting nTop and Fusion delivers on that expectation, putting high-performance implicit models designed in nTop where engineering teams naturally work with them.”

Hexagon scSTREAM – Advancements in the design of heat sinks, chill plates, manifolds, and filters require accurate and rapid CFD analysis. To meet this need, nTop has partnered with Hexagon to integrate data from nTop models into Cradle CFD scSTREAM, a CFD application created specifically for thermal management of large and complex assemblies. scSTREAM reduces manual processes by 80% and offers 5-10x faster calculation speeds. The combination of scSTREAM and nTop Core relies on a direct data transfer technology for implicit models that eliminates the need to simplify or compromise users’ design integrity to achieve fast, accurate results.

Intact.Simulation – Intact.Simulation provides mechanical simulation capabilities that remove the meshing bottleneck. With Intact.Simulation, you can load designs directly from nTop without any loss in fidelity and perform linear elastic, modal, and thermal analysis solved directly on the implicit model. This allows for faster iterations and the ability to analyze designs containing lattices and other highly complex geometries that were simply impractical in traditional FEA tools.

cloudfluid – To address growing interest in advanced design strategies that improve the performance of heat exchangers and manifolds, cloudfluid provides a solution for performing CFD analysis on products containing complex geometric features. With this integration, cloudfluid can import *.implicit models from nTop, set up the simulation on the model without meshing, and compute the results quickly using cloud-based GPU processing —powering a significantly faster heat exchanger design workflow.

nTop 5 is the next major release of the nTop software platform and a leap forward in implicit modeling technology. With a new modeling kernel built from the ground up that delivers even greater performance and precision for the end user, nTop 5 powers the ability to responsively generate complex geometries that are intrinsic to many high-performing products. It can take the most complex design challenges and deliver a stronger foundation for expanded modeling possibilities, faster slicing, meshing, and rendering operations, and even greater precision.

Engineers across industries, such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive, consumer goods, and more, use nTop’s computational design software to develop high-performing, state-of-the-art designs that leverage the benefits of additive manufacturing and create better products.

The launch of nTop 5 and new partner integrations will be the highlight of the company’s inaugural Computational Design Summit, taking place later today in Los Angeles ahead of RAPID + TCT. To learn more about these new offerings, visit: https://www.ntop.com/resources/product-updates/ntop-5.

Remcom Updates XFdtd 3D Electromagnetic Simulation Software

Remcom announces schematic optimization in the latest release of XFdtd 3D Electromagnetic Simulation Software, substantially expediting the process of determining an optimal solution for matching network designs. The release also adds tune codes to support impedance and aperture tuner applications. These enhancements expand XFdtd’s toolset for analyzing matching and corporate feed networks, providing a robust solution for all phases of an antenna design workflow.

The optimization capability in XFdtd’s schematic editor calculates and reveals the ideal component property values and operating modes that fulfill user-defined matching network design goals, including system efficiency for antennas. The variables in a goal definition may be configured in innumerable combinations to arrive at peak performance.  In contrast to manually solving using the tuning slider bars in the schematic editor’s analysis workbench, optimization eliminates a potentially overwhelming task for very complex systems containing multiple switches and capacitors by providing a software-generated solution.

The release also includes subcircuit analysis in the schematic editor and the ability to retrieve tune codes based on desired switch states. As switch states are manipulated, XFdtd updates the corresponding tune code. Alternatively, a known tune code may be entered and the software will adjust the switch states accordingly for that particular tune code. This autofill functionality eliminates the need to transcribe data from external tables, thereby removing a point of error when determining how a particular state corresponds to a given value.

Jeff Barney, XFdtd product manager, said, “The cornerstone of the XFdtd roadmap is to support engineers designing increasingly complex devices with as many efficiencies as possible.  Sophisticated components like impedance tuners enable devices to operate in multiple bands, but they also complicate the path to arrive at the antenna’s optimal settings. The schematic editor eases these challenges by eliminating time-consuming and manual effort.”

XFdtd users without an active Remcom Professional Support contract can upgrade to the latest version by contacting sales.

Built on proven and trusted technologies, including CrystalPoint and Radiant Fusing technologies, the Canon colorWAVE T-Series and plotWAVE T-Series large-format printers combine the latest innovations in product design and controller technology to deliver highly productive printing systems that are designed to reliably and easily reproduce high-quality technical drawings or posters and point-of-sale output. Additionally, all models include PRISMA Tech Suite—a new set of workflow solutions—as well as multiple I.T. security features to help provide a high degree of protection.

plotWAVE TDS T-Series: The new monochrome plotWAVE T-Series comes in five different models: the T30, T35, T50, T55, and T75

Developed for architecture, engineering, and construction professionals, manufacturing companies, government offices, and commercial print service providers handling larger sets of technical documents, the previous ColorWave and PlotWave series have achieved long-term, market-leading success. Since their introduction, over 62,000 printers have been installed, worldwide, by customers needing to reliably produce accurate, high-quality prints at the touch of a button, whenever needed. This next generation of colorWAVE and plotWAVE large-format printers builds on this successful platform, incorporating new and enhanced features to help further advance product performance for higher productivity and ease of use for the Years Ahead.

The new colorWAVE T-Series replaces previous ColorWave models and offers two versions—the T60 and T65—which produce up to four ARCH D-sized color prints per minute. The T60 model offers a media capacity of up to four rolls. The T65 model, which provides additional print modes for those requiring higher quality, has a greater media capacity—up to six rolls plus more media versatility. The new, monochrome plotWAVE T-Series also replaces the previous PlotWave series and offers five different models—the T30, T35, T50, T55, and T75—producing maximum print speeds ranging from up to 4 ARCH D-sized prints/minute to up to 10 ARCH D-sized prints/minute and offering a maximum media capacity of 2–6 rolls, up to 36 inches wide. Moreover, all T-Series models come with a standard stacker feature, and, by adding the optional integrated scanner, you can turn any model into a multifunction printer.

Giving professionals the productivity tools they need to do their job, the new Canon colorWAVE T-Series and plotWAVE T-Series large-format printers incorporate a new and improved POWERsync+ controller. Featuring faster hardware and increased memory capacity for more rapid job processing, the POWERsync+ controller also runs on Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021; having access to the latest Microsoft Windows security functionality to help keep their system secure offers customers added peace of mind. Print jobs can be submitted remotely from a range of devices and, thanks to the new Remote ON function, the printer is ready to go as soon as the user arrives. Productivity and ease of use are further enhanced by an optional Operator Attention Light on top of the printers. There’s also a sensor in the media drawers that automatically calculates the remaining media length on the roll.

The new PRISMA Tech Suite1 also helps to improve productivity. A set of workflow solutions for the colorWAVE T-Series and plotWAVE T-Series models, the PRISMA Tech Suite is designed to help customers stay in control by allowing them to easily manage their print operations for efficient, convenient workflows.

Benefits of PRISMA Tech Suite’s Printer Tools:

  • PRISMAproduce Tech helps enable users to easily create, manage, and submit complex sets of documents from a web browser to one or more printers simultaneously and is designed for a consistent print process and more reliable print quality, thanks to dedicated templates and easier I.T. maintenance;
  • the cloud-based PRISMAlytics Accounting1 captures data for cost charging and usage monitoring; and,
  • PRISMAlytics Dashboard,1 a cloud-based management information tool, is designed to provide comprehensive overviews to monitor and maximize the production of print operations.

colorWAVE TDS T-Series: The new colorWAVE T-series is available in two versions: the T60 and T65

Canon understands that security is a key concern with its customers, and so integrated in the new colorWAVE T-Series and plotWAVE T-Series models are further-developed print security technology features, including the automatic deployment of Microsoft security patches and pin code or password printing. A system administrator can specify when the security patches are deployed as well as set up notifications about new security patch availability and status updates. For added security, a user can now enter a pin code or password just before printing. On arriving at the printer, the user simply enters the pin code or password on the ClearConnect user panel to access the file; this helps prevent unauthorized persons from acquiring that data. In addition, other integrated security features of the T-Series models include LDAP user authentication, IPSec, secure file erase, IEEE 802.1x Authentication, SNMP v3, and e-shredding.

Helping to minimize environmental impact, both the colorWAVE T-Series with its CrystalPoint technology and the plotWAVE T-Series with its Radiant Fusing technology are ENERGY STAR V3.0 compliant and feature energy-saving modes. Like their predecessor devices—many of which are still fully functioning for their customers—the T-Series models have been designed for longevity, using materials of which at least 85% can be recycled or reused for remanufacturing. Both product lines are also EPEAT Silver certified; the plotWAVE T-Series features toner bottles made from 50% recycled plastic, on average, while part of the packaging of the colorWAVE T-Series TonerPearls has been designed for use as the maintenance tray. The colorWAVE T-Series printers are also GREENGUARD Gold certified, as they are low-emitting and contribute to cleaner indoor air. Canon smart drivers and PRISMA Tech Suite workflow solutions also allow the T-Series to deliver first-time-right printing, thereby helping to reduce wasted prints, toner, and energy.

“For over a decade, the Canon ColorWave and PlotWave ranges have set the standard for the printing of high-quality, technical documents and, as market leaders, have earned a reputation for highly engineered and rock-solid technology, the latest security features, and built by professionals for professionals. We have maintained that reputation by continuously developing and updating the technology so that [these product lines] remain fit for purpose and retain the trust of our customers,” said Shinichi “Sam” Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon USA, Inc. “With the next generation that we’re announcing today, we have again responded to customer feedback by making the colorWAVE and plotWAVE T-Series, in combination with the new PRISMAproduce Tech, even more productive, easy to use, and equipped with robust security features, so that customers can be assured that it remains a valued and reliable investment for many years to come.”
