Visual Integrity Releases pdf2cad v10.0

VisualIntegrity_logoNORWALK, CT, June 5, 2014 – Visual Integrity announced today that pdf2cad v10, available immediately, supports new input formats. In addition to Adobe PDF, encapsulated PostScript (EPS) and Adobe Illustrator (AI) can be converted into editable DWG, DXF and HPGL files. The new release of pdf2cad v10.0 enables engineers to repurpose and redesign technical drawings such as building layouts and product designs which are archived and shared in the Adobe PDF and Illustrator formats as well as the industry-standard encapsulated PostScript format. Upon conversion, the file is transformed into precise AutoCAD objects which can be modified and searchable text which can be edited. Scale can be adjusted and layers are preserved.

PDF2CAD-TOGO-300xAbout pdf2cad

pdf2cad v10.0 makes object and text level editing of files previously locked in exchange or print formats possible. Many of today’s engineering programs can already import PDF files as underlays allowing engineers and architects to clip or snap to the underlay and control the layers but they do not allow direct manipulation of the CAD objects. pdf2cad advances this technology significantly by producing a drawing with the same editable quality as the original. Using object extraction, pdf2cad generates an accurate drawing based on real data and vector relationships in the original file. It does not resort to less precise approaches such as electronic tracing, raster-to-vector conversion or approximation. pdf2cad requires computer-generated PDF, EPS or AI files. It is not intended for use on scanned drawings which contain flat raster images and thus no useful data about the CAD objects.

pdf2cad-v10-pagepdf2cad is a desktop application available for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Versions are available for command-line use (batch mode) or via API to integrate functionality directly into an application. Developers and Integrators have a high degree of control over user-defined options to optimize and customize the output during conversion, including settings for rotation, scaling, layers, font substitution, extracting raster images, setting line width, separating layers, and more.
