TEDCF Releases Inventor 2016 Drafting Course

2D Drafting and Customization is the third course in a 9 course series for Autodesk Inventor 2016. The previous courses are used as a foundation for learning skills taught in this course. Click here to learn about the rest of the courses.

080515_TEDCFThis 6.5 hour course covers how to create 2D drawings for parts and assemblies along with all the commands associated with 2D drawings. It includes customizing drawing styles, templates, appearances, materials, and more.

Custom drafting styles are covered in detail. Users learn how to customize styles and layers that effect 2D drawings. Drafting standards and styles are also covered in detail along with recommendations on how to customize for the user’s needs.

Advanced view concepts such as overlays, exploded views, and cutouts are also explained. The course shows all the view annotations available in Inventor and gives tips on customizing and applying custom mechanical drawings. Applying custom note tags as well as creating and formatting custom notes are discussed.

050815_TEDCF2Users learn how to automate the construction of 2D drawings by setting up custom title blocks and borders. With these skills, the user can add a view to the drawing, and all the information in the title block is automatically filled in. Each step of the process to setup such an automation is covered in detail.

Customization of the 2D environment is explained step-by-step. This includes customization of the user interface, the marking menu, ribbon panels, adding shortcut keys and command aliases, and adding custom panels to the ribbon.

BOM customization is also covered. Users learn where files are stored and how to take control over file storage locations. Users are shown how to customize BOMs, how to modify component specifications within the BOM, and how to modify content center parts in the BOM.

It is currently available as a direct download from TEDCF Publishing’s website or through the TEDCF Streaming Video Service. The USB version of the course is also available and will ship on August 31.

The Lesson Player has several customizable features designed to meet user needs. Users can slow down or speed up the video playback rate, which allows the user to learn at their own pace. When the user closes the Lesson Player it will automatically open to the same place in the course, so bookmarking is automatic. Hotkeys are available to pause, play, review, and proceed to the next lesson, and it has a search engine that helps users quickly find lessons.
