Mcor Launches SliceIT Print Driver for SDL 3D Printers

mcor-logo_newLONG BEACH, CA, May 21, 2015 – Mcor Technologies Ltd., manufacturer of the only line of desktop paper-based 3D printers, announced the availability of new SliceIT print driver software for the company’s IRIS and Matrix 300+ line of SDL (selective deposition lamination) 3D printers.

SliceIT powers the new Mcor IRIS HD, announced yesterday, by providing new algorithms and supporting a newly-designed, 10,000 meter carbide cutting tip. With Mcor IRIS HD, Mcor is the first to bring high-definition color to 3D printing, transforming the Mcor IRIS into an HD 3D printer and reducing per model printing costs by 20 percent.

With this release of SliceIT, users of Mcor’s SDL 3D printers also have greater flexibility and control over their build than ever, including the ability to adjust the adhesive pressure for different types of operating environments and initiating a build from any layer of the model by simply selecting the range of layers required to quickly 3D print and examine a portion of the model. The new software will also have new setup routines which reduces the time to having a model in your hand.

“High-definition color, low operating operating costs and flexibility are vital for manufacturers, schools, service bureaus, architectural firms and others who need to 3D print a high volume of realistic models,” said Dr. Conor MacCormack, co-founder and CEO of Mcor Technologies. “Our SDL paper-based 3D printers have always offered the industry’s highest-resolution color at the lowest operating costs. Now, with IRIS HD and SliceIT, we’re providing even greater access to the industry’s most photorealistic color 3D printing.”

Mcor is demonstrating its newest SDL 3D printing technology through Thursday at the RAPID conference for 3D printing, scanning, and additive manufacturing at the Long Beach Convention Center in California in Booth 830.

SliceIT control software for Mcor’s SDL paper-based 3D printers reads the digital data and slices the computer model into printable layers equivalent in thickness to the paper. The software also enables the user to position the model, or several models, within the 3D printer’s build chamber.
