NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI , Feb 26, 2015 – Hexagon Metrology announced its 4.5.4 SF coordinate measuring machine (CMM) has been updated with new advancements to further enhance the user experience. The company’s most popular shop-floor CMM now includes integrated workspace LED lighting to assist the operator in poor lighting conditions. The bolt-hole pattern in the CMM’s granite base has been revised to accommodate a 300mm kinematic plate for repeatable dedicated fixturing. Granite etching now defines the measurement envelope in the x- and y-axes. Optional programmable status lighting on the z-axis signals the machine’s progress in the measurement routine. Convenient power switches are located on the front of the machine to add ease-of-use simplicity. An integrated monitor and keyboard arm are available to replace the workstation upgrade option, adding increased flexibility for the operator while minimizing footprint on the shop floor. Many of these features were first introduced on the larger 7.10.7 SF shop-floor CMM.
This record-breaking measurement solution is the fastest selling product in Hexagon Metrology’s history. Known for its economical portability and small footprint, the 4.5.4 SF CMM can fit through a standard size door and go anywhere dimensional inspection is needed. The 4.5.4 SF also uses standard 110/220 volt outlets with no need for shop air. Other features such as advanced thermal isolation, temperature compensation, and covered bearing ways contribute to the CMM’s overall durability in rugged shop-floor environments.
