FSL3D Announces Prototyping Services Department

fsl3d_logoLAS VEGAS, NV, Aug 4, 2015 – FSL3D, a leading manufacturer of digital fabrication tools for the modern factory, announced the launch of a new manufacturing service targeted at prototyping and low-volume production.

3D Printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing (AM), is a technology that allows the construction of physical items by computer-controlled addition of a building material. The global Additive Manufacturing industry is experiencing explosive growth, with new technologies like the FSL3D SuperVAT and UVLED Phoenix 3D Printers expected to increase uptake of AM in traditional manufacturing industries. According to Wohlers Report 2014, the worldwide 3D printing industry is expected to grow from $3.07B in 2013 to $12.8B by 2018, and exceed $21B in worldwide revenue by 2020.

“The keys to the growth of both consumer and industrial 3D Printing are increasing capability and decreasing cost. We see a huge opportunity with our technology to provide systems with industrial-level output, but a price tag affordable to small and medium businesses,” said Henry Liu, PhD, Founder and CEO of FSL3D.

The Prototyping Services Department at FSL3D takes advantage of technologies the company has developed for 3D Printing and Laser Cutting. FSL3D sells the popular Pegasus Touch Laser 3D Printer and the upcoming Phoenix 3D Printers, along with a broad set of subtractive laser material processing solutions. This is the first installation of the company’s new Scalable Digital Manufacturing solution.

“Scalable Digital Manufacturing (SDM) is our vision for the future of manufacturing. By installing an array of 3D Printers and combining them with lasers, a company is able to get incredible throughput in multiple materials. All for less than the cost of a single printer from Stratasys or 3D Systems,” says John Calhoun, executive vice president of sales and marketing at FSL3D. “We’re getting a lot of interest in the SDM concept; the typical installation has the same or better quality, and can achieve 23x the throughput of a single machine for the same cost.”

The Prototyping Services Department is currently offering 8 material choices on the Pegasus Touch and Phoenix Touch 3D Printers, including FSL3D’s new Low Shrink Red Oxide Resin and W9000 Industrial ABS-like Resin. Laser Cutting materials include various grades of steel, plastics, and woods.
