The 40-strong trade delegation aimed to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the new Indian government’s focus on economic growth and included major British businesses from the retail, aerospace and education sectors. This was the first high-level trade mission to India since Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected in May. The delegation was organized by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) the government department that helps UK-based companies succeed in the global economy.

Delcam was part of the delegation focused on the aerospace sector. Speaking at the GREAT Business Conference in New Delhi on August 25, the Deputy Prime Minister said, “As a leader in the global aerospace industry, the UK can help India strengthen its position in this valuable market. Our aerospace industry produces and supplies some of the most pioneering aircraft components in the world.”

“I was extremely honored to be chosen to take part in this important visit,” commented Mr. Martell. “It provided a huge boost to Delcam’s profile in India, especially among the larger companies we visited, including Airbus India, HAL and UTAS, and the government officials we met.”

The visit follows shortly after Delcam reached 2,500 customers in India. Delcam’s CADCAM business in the country has expanded significantly since the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in the country in 2000. In the following years, Delcam India has grown from its initial staff of three to more than 100 employees. The company is based in new, purpose-built headquarters in Pune that cost around $1 million when they were constructed in 2006. Delcam India also operates 14 regional offices spread across the country, to support its growing customer base.
