OptoFidelity Selects Aras Innovator Platform

ANDOVER, MA, Oct 21, 2022 – Finnish high-tech company OptoFidelity is implementing the Aras Innovator platform to simplify and scale its digital thread across the product lifecycle as it continues its strong growth trajectory. As the supplier to nine of the top ten smart device manufacturers, the company expects a very short implementation time thanks to Aras’ low-code platform and a rich set of platform services.

“The Aras platform and its PLM applications will significantly simplify our planning and manufacturing processes. Specifically in production, we will be able to work with our customers to map their respective configurations in digital form and use them for future projects,” says Lasse Lepistö, CEO at OptoFidelity. The company with expertise in artificial intelligence and virtual reality, touch displays, and smartphone refurbishment is developing and producing testing solutions for market leaders in smart device technologies.

In recent years, OptoFidelity has significantly amplified its output, and the complexity of machines and related processes have advanced exponentially. “We face the challenge of balancing a robust operational growth trajectory with an increasingly complicated product world. We’re able to overcome this with a solution that creates a digital thread across disciplines and enables efficient access to product data,” continues Lepistö.

Aras partner, Fulvisol, is leading the implementation. The first phase of the implementation was completed in three months and the project is expected to be completed before the end of the year. According to Fulvisol managing director Petri Surakka, the quick project time is possible because Aras Innovator’s low-code platform with a single data model makes the system fast to configure for the customer. “The configuration options allow us to implement the system in a short time. Only a few codes had to be written; everything else is configuration,” says Surakka.

“Even within a complex mechanical and electrical engineering environment, the openness and flexibility of the Aras platform enable us to progress quickly. This empowers companies to implement product lifecycle management without production downtime,” says Jens Rollenmüller, managing director Germany at Aras.

At OptoFidelity, the mechanical and electrical engineering departments were the first to begin using the Aras platform and other areas of the organization will start using it in future phases of the implementation. “The Aras platform breaks down silos so people can access information and data across the product lifecycle. It will lay the foundation for standardizing the production of customized machines in the long-term using a modular design,” says Lepistö.

Maison Stella & Suzie Selects Centric PLM

CAMPBELL, CA, Oct 12, 2022 – Maison Stella & Suzie, an elegant French brand of women’s ready-to-wear clothing, has selected Centric Software’s product lifecycle management (PLM) solution to power their digital transformation. Centric Software provides the most innovative enterprise solutions to plan, design, develop, source and sell products such as apparel, footwear, sporting goods, furniture, home décor, cosmetics, food & beverage and luxury to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.

Created in 2017 by Margaux Minguez Lahana, Stella & Suzie is a young & fresh ready-to-wear brand, driven by the ambition to offer a complete women’s wardrobe that mixes strong core pieces, accessories, swimwear & home wear with bohemian chic accents. At the beginning, this digitally-native brand distributed products only through their proprietary e-shop. Since then, they have established a corner at Printemps Haussmann in Paris and opened a new boutique in Toulouse.

Stella & Suzie is experiencing very strong growth and needed a comprehensive PLM solution to save time, streamline the development of their product offering and optimize the production process in order to increase product margins. After careful consideration, the company chose Centric Software, the industry leader in PLM solutions for fashion brands, both small and large. Centric’s greatest assets for Stella & Suzie included deep knowledge of the fashion industry, and similarities between other fashion brands that also use Centric to develop similar products.

Besides the clear benefits of Centric’s PLM platform, Romy André-Corbé, product manager for Maison Stella & Suzie, had already used Centric PLM in her previous positions at Naf Naf, a long-time Centric Software customer, and was already familiar with the advantages. Finally, the quality of the customer support offered by Centric was a key determining factor.

“This digital turnaround is essential. We currently have about 30 employees and should have 100 within four years. Building a solid infrastructure from the start of our growth, without waiting until it’s too late, is therefore crucial,” says Romy André-Corbé.

The style and purchasing teams will be the first to use the solution. André-Corbé points out its advantages, “Until now, we used about twenty Excel files. With Centric PLM, the style and purchasing teams will have a unified and up-to-date source of information. Our managers will be able to consult the data in a timely manner, obtain an overview of the final collection, status, prototypes, ‘OK for production’, validation of themes and colors, before entrusting communication, shootings, etc. to the marketing teams.”

She adds, “The financial teams will have direct access to the costs associated with the different collections and to the product margin calculations.”

Maison Stella & Suzie also intends to use the PLM solution to support its environmental objectives: in particular via the analysis of materials (Oeko-Tex) in order to obtain the GOATS label.

“We are delighted that Maison Stella & Suzie has chosen Centric as an ambassador for their cutting-edge and highly differentiated style,” said Chris Groves, president and CEO of Centric Software. “With Centric PLM, Stella & Suzie has taken another step in its development in France and internationally. We look forward to deepening this promising partnership.”

CONTACT Listed in 2022 Gartner PLM Market Guide

BREMEN, Germany, Oct 7, 2022 – CONTACT Software has been mentioned as a Representative Vendor in this year’s PLM Market Guide. The report also provides an outlook on the development of the PLM market.

In July 2022, the analysts at Gartner published their current “Market Guide for PLM Software in Discrete Manufacturing Industries”. The report mentions CONTACT Software as a Representative Vendor.¹

The CONTACT Elements portfolio reflects numerous aspects that are crucial for a future-proof Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). These include the shift of PLM solutions to the cloud and the emergence of modular IT architectures that can be flexibly combined, so-called composable architectures.

“As design, engineering and manufacturing become more global, PLM software native to the cloud makes collaboration throughout the life cycle more efficient,” says Gartner.

CONTACT Software’s cloud solutions are already successfully used by numerous customers. The CONTACT Cloud requires less resources for system implementation, maintenance, and upgrades, so that companies can focus even more on their core business. The shift of services to the cloud is also transforming the business model of PLM providers. “By year-end 2026, two-thirds of PLM applications in use will be subscriptions, rather than perpetual licenses,” the experts at Gartner predict.

According to Gartner, “By year-end 2025, 30% of available PLM applications will be built on top of composable technologies.”

Composable architectures give companies the ability to combine different application modules into customized solutions. As business conditions change, these can be expanded or reduced as needed. In its “Product Leader Insight: Why You Need Composable Solutions to Address Manufacturer Needs”, Gartner mentions the CONTACT Elements platform as an example of a composable architecture.² Our Elements platform comprises more than 50 application modules which can be freely combined. It enables customers to implement end-to-end processes along the digital thread and across system boundaries.

Gartner’s analysts see the digital thread as the PLM approach of the future. “By year-end 2025, digital threads will replace the mainstream product data management (PDM) approach that dominates PLM investment today”. In “Innovation Insight for the Digital Thread”, Gartner sees CONTACT as one of the Representative Providers for the digital thread.³

PROSTEP to Integrate Arena PLM with Jira ALM

DARMSTADT, Germany, Oct 5, 2022 – OpenPDM PLM integration platform has been used in hybrid cloud scenarios since version 9.0. In the future, PROSTEP will also offer it as an integration platform as a service (iPaaS). In close cooperation with Arena, which is part of PTC, the PLM consulting and software company is currently developing a cloud-enabled standard integration between the PLM solution Arena from PTC and the ALM application Jira from Atlassian. Both applications are cloud-native.

An increasing number of European manufacturers are discovering the cloud and want to use software as a service (SaaS) solutions as part of their digital transformation. PTC is providing European companies with support on their way to the cloud by hosting Arena PLM and quality management system (QMS) software locally in Germany and providing a German user interface. The company is working with PROSTEP’s PLM experts to integrate the solution with other enterprise applications.

According to analysts, integrating cloud PLM and QMS systems with other enterprise applications is one of the biggest hurdles on the road to digital transformation.

PROSTEP has set out to remove this hurdle.

“We have been systematically developing the software architecture of our OpenPDM PLM integration platform for several years with the aim of enabling its use in the cloud and providing the best possible support for the integration of different cloud and on-premises applications. Our strategic goal is to offer the integrations as a service from the cloud in the future.” says Peter Pfalzgraf, head of partner management at PROSTEP

In a first step, PROSTEP is developing an OpenPDM-based standardized and configurable integration solution between the PLM and QMS solutions from cloud PLM pioneer Arena and the ALM solutions Jira from Atlassian. Arena has been part of PTC since the beginning of 2021. Jira is one of the leading application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions for planning, tracking and release management in the software development process.

The integration between Arena and Jira will have a predefined functional scope, which means that its deployment will require just a few configuration steps. It supports, for example, the synchronization of issues or error messages created in Jira with Arena. A corresponding ticket is then automatically created in Arena and assigned to employees for processing. If the issue changes in Jira, the corresponding ticket is updated in Arena.

The OpenPDM platform, which controls the synchronization process and synchronizes the data, is implemented in the AWS cloud infrastructure together with the two connectors. In the coming months, PROSTEP will be adding additional standard integrations to its iPaaS offering.
