Siemens PLM Gets CIO 100 Award

siemenslogoPLANO, TX, June 25, 2014 – IDG’s CIO magazine announced Siemens PLM Software as a recipient of the 2014 CIO 100. The 27th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). Siemens PLM Software, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, is being recognized for its innovative use of Panopto cloud-based recorders to capture remote enablement projects around-the-world and share them with employees worldwide.

“For 27 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value,” said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of CIO magazine & Events. “Our 2014 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage.”

Effectively capturing and recording multiple presentations from an event, and then distributing them to participants in a timely manner can be a significant challenge for many organizations. In preparation for an important conference earlier this year, the learning and development team at Siemens PLM Software formulated a new strategy, involving technology from Panopto, to help meet this challenge. Working with Panopto, Siemens successfully captured and recorded more than 30 separate plenary and track session events during the conference. The recordings were inspected, audited and edited, uploaded and available within a week of the conference’s conclusion. Building off of this foundation, Siemens has successfully used this approach for subsequent events.

“As a PLM leader focused on providing customers with tools to optimize their lifecycle processes, we are constantly looking for ways to optimize our ability to share best practices across the globe,” said Craig Berry, senior vice president and CIO, Siemens PLM Software. “Being honored as one of the CIO 100 award recipients is a strong testament to our success.”

Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, Aug. 19, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

About the CIO 100

Recipients of this year’s CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges’ recommendations and selected the final 100.

Coverage of the 2014 CIO 100 Awards will be available online at CIO.com on August 1, 2014 and in the August 1st issue of CIO magazine.
