Tulsa University Selects PASS Suite

PSRE Co., the leading developer of smart simulation and sizing tools for every piping and equipment engineer/designer, is pleased to announce participation of The University of Tulsa, OK in the PASS Software Academic License Program.

The University receives academic licenses for PASS/START-PROF, PASS/HYDROSYSTEM and PASS/EQUIP for teaching and research purposes free of charge, as part of the PASS Software Academic License Program.

PASS/START-PROF, a solution for pipe stress analysis, and PASS/EQUIP, an equipment stress analysis and sizing suite, will facilitate the implementation of practical projects in the classrooms, especially in the petroleum department. The software will also be used on the University’s surface facilities courses to integrate concepts through a comprehensive project. PASS/HYDROSYSTEM, software for piping fluid flow analysis, will be used in the oil and gas production engineering courses to educate the students on pipe diameter selection and network configuration.

“We are very excited about this opportunity which will allow TU students to get more familiar with the specific problems related to the midstream and refinery sectors, which are the current areas of growth in the department,” said Eduardo Pereyra, associate professor of the University of Tulsa.

On the research side, PASS software provides a unique opportunity that allows improved facility designs and the comparison of experimental results with state-of-the-art models. PASS/HYDROSYSTEN is aimed to help accelerate the current research on fluid pipe interaction under multiphase flow conditions. These findings will help researchers identify gaps and drive research toward the needs of the industry.

“We have a long history of collaboration with the University of Tulsa, especially in the field of piping multiphase flow under the Tulsa University Fluid Flow Projects (TUFFP) research group. PSRE in turn uses the TUFFP results to strengthen the capabilities found in our PASS software. We are intensifying our cooperation on several other research projects. We are extremely happy that the University has chosen our PASS Suite Software for their educational and research activities. PSRE provides academic licenses, with extensive support to successfully teach students and provide more research for the industry,” said VP on R&D, PSRE Co., Leonid Korelstein.

PASS Suite Software Academic licenses are valid for 1 year from the time of approval and may only be used for non-commercial, academic purposes to teachers, researchers, and other faculty staff.

Academic licenses are provided free of charge in exchange for active work in research activities with publications (e.g. master and PhD thesis) referencing the PASS Software Suite for Research Licenses or active use in teaching classes for Teaching Licenses.
