BELLEVUE, WA, May 13, 2021 – Tecplot, Inc. has announced the general availability of Tecplot 360 2021 Release 1.
Tecplot 360 is the leading independent CFD post-processor in the industry and this release cements our commitment to being the best visualization and analysis tool for a wide variety of CFD simulation results.
The new Ansys Fluent Common Fluids Format (CFF) HDF5 file loader in this release saves Fluent users both time and disk space by reading their CFF data directly without a conversion step. This allows Fluent users to realize other advantages of the CFF format such as it being faster for Fluent to write as well as file sizes being smaller.

The ability to load this data will save Ansys Fluent users time, and would not have been possible without collaboration with our users and the support from Ansys staff.” says Scott Fowler, Tecplot 360 product manager.
This release also includes support for Ansys CFX 2021 and Abaqus 2021 data files. Other data loaders that received stability improvements include: OpenFOAM, Nastran, and various CAD formats.
For CFD code developers, we have seen up to an order of magnitude performance improvement to TecIO-MPI (parallel version of the TecIO library), which writes Tecplot SZL (*.szplt) files. Details of these performance improvements are in their TecIO Library.
