Open Design Alliance Releases BIM Collaboration Format v2.1

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, July 12, 2021 – Open Design Alliance (ODA), the leading provider of CAD and BIM interoperability solutions, announced today the release of BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) 2.1 in its Open Cloud SDK (Software Development Kit). Open Cloud is a web collaboration toolkit for engineering design that supports visualization, markup and data access for major CAD and BIM formats.

BCF is a buildingSMART International standard for managing model-based issues on a BIM project. BCF 2.1 features a REST API that allows applications to collaborate on BIM issue tracking for IFC models.

“Our interoperability toolkits are widely used as building blocks for Common Data Environments, or CDEs,” said Neil Peterson, ODA president. “With the addition of BCF 2.1 to our Open Cloud web server, ODA member companies can now integrate standard BIM issue tracking into any custom CDE, and communicate seamlessly with any client that supports the BCF standard.”

Availability and Pricing

BCF 2.1 is available in Open Cloud version 22.4 and later, and it is accessible to all ODA members at opendesign.com.

Pricing for ODA memberships can be found at opendesign.com/pricing.
