Onshape Named to 2018 Forbes Cloud 100

CAMBRIDGE, MA, Sep 14, 2018 – Onshape, the leading cloud 3D CAD platform, was named to the annual Forbes Cloud 100, the iconic business magazine’s list of the “best and the brightest” of private cloud computing companies. Along with partners Bessemer Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures, Forbes compiled the list based on metrics such as revenue, sales growth, valuation and culture – combined with recommendations from 34 CEOs of public cloud companies.

The Cloud 100 covers a wide range of business-critical online tools, including analytics, operations, security, HR, finance, customer support, marketing and collaboration.

“We’re honored that Onshape is the only CAD company included in the Forbes Cloud 100,” says Onshape CEO and co-founder Jon Hirschtick. “We didn’t build a modern cloud CAD system from scratch for the sake of being in the cloud, but so our customers can design their products faster and better. It’s no coincidence that we rely on many of our fellow companies in the Forbes Cloud 100 – such as Stripe, Slack, Fuze, Drift, Zapier and Looker – to work faster ourselves.”

Onshape is the only CAD system to combine advanced modeling tools and design data management in a secure cloud workspace. Its real-time data management eliminates the need for teams to use a PDM vault, which requires checking out files and restricts work to only one person at a time. In Onshape, multiple people can simultaneously work on the same part or assembly. Whenever an engineer updates a design, everyone else on the team instantly sees it.

Professional engineers at thousands of companies rely on Onshape to modernize and streamline their product design and manufacturing process. Onshape users in 170+ countries have logged over 5 million hours modeling advanced robotics, biomedical devices, industrial machinery, drones, agricultural equipment and consumer products. With 1 of 8 sessions occurring on mobile devices, Onshape is the world’s first anywhere, anytime CAD system.

“2018 has been a landmark year for us as we introduced two new editions of Onshape leveraging our unique full-cloud architecture for formal release management, and enterprise-class control and analytics offerings,” Hirschtick adds. “Companies of all sizes now have unprecedented visibility into every stage of their design and manufacturing process.”
