EON Reality Appoints Bertil Andersson to Board of Directors

IRVINE, CA, Mar 9, 2018 – EON Reality, the world leader in virtual reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, today announced that Bertil Andersson, the former president of Nanyang Technological University, has joined EON Reality’s board of directors. Professor Andersson will use his lifetime of experience of working in institutions of higher learning and research to help guide EON Reality in building stronger relations with academia and developing solutions that solve the future needs of educational institutions.

Prof Andersson has been a leading proponent of the flipped classroom at the university level and its adoption has been part of NTU’s meteoric success. In working with EON Reality, Prof Andersson is looking to evolve the flipped classroom into “Classroom 3.0” which blends e-learning, moocs, and distance learning with experiential learning technologies such as EON Reality’s AVR Platform. Additionally, Andersson will advise our network of Academies and help guide its future development.

“We’ve watched as NTU has rapidly grown in size and stature under Bertil Andersson’s leadership,” said David Scowsill, CEO of EON Reality. “We’ve had a front row seat from our operations in Singapore to the innovation that Prof Andersson has brought to education and how these changes have brought incredible results. His insight into education will play a key role in the deployment of AVR based “Classroom 3.0” and how best to bring AVR based education to colleges and universities around the world.”

“Advancing the science of education is of utmost importance and interest to me,” said Bertil Andersson. “Adding an experiential element to the flipped classroom has the potential to redefine how we educate students and train workers. I’m extremely excited to continue the process I started at NTU to develop ‘Classroom 3.0’ with EON Reality.”

Prof Andersson is a prominent biochemist and won the Wilhelm Exner Medal in recognition of his research in biochemistry. He joined NTU as its first Provost in 2007 and in 2011 was appointed president.
