EXTON, PA, Dec 1, 2022 – Bentley Systems, Inc., the infrastructure engineering software company,  announced that its VP and chief compliance officer Angela Curry was named a 2022 Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal. The Women of Distinction program recognizes women in the business community who are blazing a trail at their respective companies, are respected for accomplishments within their fields, give back to the community, and are sought out as respected advisors and mentors. The publication’s editors selected the honorees from nearly 300 nominations made by the public.

In an interview with the Philadelphia Business Journal, Curry said she loves to create spaces for women to connect, share life experiences, and celebrate milestones and victories with each other. She also credited a community of supporters and mentors that helped her get through tough times and overcome professional obstacles.

“I am thrilled that Angela received this significant honor,” said David Shaman. “She fosters a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything she does at Bentley, and she drove and implemented a welcoming and inclusive workplace that empowers women to inspire world-leading infrastructure.”

Curry’s accomplishments in her role at Bentley include initiating the review of the company’s professional and internship programs, resulting in broadening the scope and revising Bentley’s hiring process to promote diversity within the organization. She also supports the company’s important education initiatives including partnering with historically Black colleges and universities, providing no-cost engineering software and mentorship for students working on senior engineering projects. This initiative demonstrates the enormous commitment Curry and others at Bentley have in laying the groundwork for diverse workforces in the future.

Curry also supports Bentley’s Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (IDEA), a platform for educating colleagues on how to identify racism, discrimination, and bias in the workplace. Moreover, she has implemented rigorous diversity, equity, and inclusion training within the company. As chief compliance officer, she is responsible for managing Bentley’s regulatory compliance programs that cover privacy and data protection, export controls and trade compliance, and compliance and ethics. As a highly experienced compliance professional, Curry understands that embedding core diversity, equity, and inclusion principles from the top to the bottom of an organization is not only fair and equitable, but also sound corporate governance.

In addition to Curry’s work at Bentley, she serves on the board of directors of the University City Arts League and the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association’s STEM Goes Red program, and she is a member of the Forum of Executive Women and Impact100: Women Giving As One. She has also served as a mentor for the Association of Corporate Counsel Diversity Mentor Program for the past five years.
