zSpace, GeoGebra Expand Software Offering for Virtual Reality

GeoGebra’s mathematics application is designed for all levels of education – bringing together geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use package. With this partnership, 3D graphing and figures within GeoGebra’s software are now fully interactive on the zSpace virtual reality tabletop, which allows students from K-12 to medical school the opportunity to manipulate virtual, 3D objects and learn concepts in science, technology, engineering, art and math (aka the STEAM curriculum).

With GeoGebra and zSpace, students can:
●    Explore math concepts from pre-made, existing curriculum materials
●    Create new interactive STEAM materials to use in class and to share with others
●    Collaborate with teachers across the US and worldwide through the GeoGebra and zSpace community

“The thing that zSpace enhanced the most was graphing surfaces in 3D,” said Steve Phelps, math teacher at Madeira High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. “I actually felt as if I was holding the surface in my hands. I could look under and over and around the surface. This was far better than any other 3D graphing experience.”

GeoGebra supports a community of over 30 million teachers and students worldwide who have shared more than 300,000 interactive curriculum materials on GeoGebraTube. In addition, zSpace’s STEAM lesson plans offer a realistic learning environment and a personalized learning experience, aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core and state standards.

“We are thrilled to partner with Geogebra,” said Paul Kellenberger, zSpace CEO. “GeoGebra is the leading provider of dynamic mathematics software, supporting our STEM education and initiatives. The collaboration is a natural fit for zSpace.”

Currently, GeoGebra is translated into more than 60 languages, used in more than 195 countries, with thousands of new users joining every day – clearly making an impact on mathematics education worldwide. With the easy-to-use interface and an authoring tool to create interactive learning materials as web pages, educators and students of any age and ability can explore and learn math in an entirely new way.

“Everyone at GeoGebra is passionate about education, mathematics and the power of collaboration”, said Markus Hohenwarter, founder and CEO. “We start and finish every day energized by the incredible level of collaboration across our global community and remarkable quality and number of materials created and shared, all with a view to supporting teaching and learning, everywhere.”
