Yokogawa, FogHorn Partner for Industrial IoT

FOGHORN-logoMOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Feb 3, 2017 – FogHorn Systems, a leading developer of edge analytics and machine learning (ML) software for industrial and commercial internet of things (IoT) applications, announced today that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Yokogawa Electric Corp. to develop and promote the use of “fog computing” solutions for IIoT. Yokogawa also made news last July for its investment in FogHorn’s series A round of funding.

Fog computing is a technology designed to dramatically reduce latency and bandwidth usage by processing massive amounts of machine and sensor data close to its source in the field and sending only essential data to the cloud for centralized processing. This technology is expected to lead to several new IoT applications for Yokogawa.

As technology partners, FogHorn and Yokogawa will showcase a joint fog computing demonstration and participate in speaking events, including an OpenFog Workshop panel at the IoT Evolution Expo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, February 7-10.

“FogHorn’s expertise in the Industrial Internet of Things segment combined with their outstanding portfolio of fog computing technology will allow us to accelerate our development of services,” said Tsuyoshi Abe, a Yokogawa vice president and head of the company’s Marketing Headquarters.

FogHorn released its IIoT software platform FogHorn Lightning in September 2016 and more recently received recognition as a leading IoT startup by leading technology publications including CRN, HPE Matter, and Appcessories.

“Yokogawa has been strongly supportive both as an investor and as a leading industrial solutions partner,” said FogHorn CEO David C. King. “We look forward to integrating FogHorn’s breakthrough edge analytics and machine learning technology directly into Yokogawa’s industry-leading sensing and control solutions.”
