Vero Adds D-Cubed AEM, CDM Components to VISI v21

siemenslogoPLANO, TX, July 28, 2015 – Vero Software, a leader in CAM/CAM software for the tooling, production engineering, sheet metal fabrication, stone and woodworking industries, has licensed D-Cubed software, developed by Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software business, to help improve motion simulation studies. Vero selected D-Cubed AEM (Assembly Engineering Manager) and CDM (Collision Detection Manager) to help users perform motion studies directly within VISI 21, Vero’s fully integrated design and manufacturing solution for the mold & die industry.

“VISI customers need to model the complex motion of parts in mold and die assemblies accurately and rapidly,” said Marco Cafasso, product development manager, Vero Software. “Using our graphic timeline, operators can control the start and end movement cycles for various groups of components. The D-Cubed team worked extensively with our development team to optimize the performance of AEM and CDM in this demanding use-case. The quality and responsiveness of technical support enabled us to deliver a superior solution to our customers.”

Vero’s VISI portfolio offers a unique combination of applications including fully integrated wireframe, surface and solid modelling, plastic flow front analysis, 3D tool design, wire EDM, and comprehensive 2D, 3D and 5-axis milling strategies. With the latest integration of D-Cubed components, VISI 21 now provides new tools for simulating the operation and interaction of mold and die components, such as gear racks, cams, sliders, lifters and fixtures.

D-Cubed AEM has been integrated to enhance motion simulation by modeling the behavior of parts as they collide and interact. AEM can take into account the effects of various forces and engineering devices in motion simulation. VISI 21 can model the effects of springs, for example, in cam mechanisms. D-Cubed CDM was also integrated to provide rapid and accurate collision detection during motion studies.

“For more than two decades, our staff has worked closely with Vero to ensure their customers benefit from outstanding implementations of D-Cubed components, and the success of this sophisticated application for AEM and CDM continues this tradition,” said Paul Sicking, senior vice president, chief technology office, Siemens PLM Software. “Customers like Vero who apply our components to new and challenging applications save time and resources delivering higher productivity for their end users, while at the same time these demanding use cases help us enhance our own products.”

Vero’s latest integration extends its long standing adoption of D-Cubed components. The company now licenses all six components in the D-Cubed family. Vero currently uses D-Cubed 3D DCM (Dimensional Constraint Manager) for assembly part positioning in VISI.

D-Cubed 2D DCM was recently implemented in Vero’s Edgecam system for NC part programming to provide parametric sketching capabilities. Other Vero products with D-Cubed component integrations include the Alphacam, Cabinet Vision and Radan product lines. Vero also uses Parasolid software, the world’s leading geometric modeling kernel, and Siemens’ JT file format, the ISO standard for viewing and sharing lightweight 3D product information.
