Theorem Releases CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE to 3D PDF v21.3

STAFFORDSHIRE, UK, Jan 17, 2019 – Theorem Solutions has announced the release of the latest CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE to 3D PDF solution from their Publish 3D range of products. V21.3 supports CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE 2016x, 2017x and 2018x.

Theorem’s 3D PDF publisher offers a 3D PDF publishing solution, enabling users to share their engineering data created in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE with departments who do not have CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE but need access to a 3D representation.

Since 3D PDF is 3D content in a standard PDF, it enables companies to create rich documents with 3D CAD data inside, which can be viewed, manipulated and marked up with Adobe’s free reader. What 3D does is remove ambiguity when reviewing product data.

Features and enhancements

  • Addition of face/solid/part/instance transparency – This maintains the display in the translated file, giving an accurate representation of the original data.
  • New functionality for points grouping – This allows grouped points to be broken down into individual point nodes in the assembly rather than a single node containing all points. This is necessary if individual point data needs to be selected i.e. for the location of weld positions

Theorem’s Publish 3D product supports the publishing of model based definition (MBD) and PMI data which contains the necessary information to manufacture and inspect products, without the need for 2D engineering drawings which are time consuming and costly to produce.

Using 3D PDF controls and protects the Intellectual Property (IP) contained within the document. Passwords and document rights access can be added to the 3D PDF and different levels of control can be created for different users. This will ensure that the integrity of the information is maintained and that only the correct people can access the data.

Anybody with access to the freely available Adobe Reader, and has the appropriate permissions, can access the interactive 3D data and are able to view, mark up and interrogate the document without the use of specialist CAD software. As 3D PDF is an ISO standard, the technology can be easily integrated and can effectively become the protocol for easy, seamless document creation and communication.

Being lightweight, 3D PDF is ideal for effective collaboration while maintaining the original 3D geometry and product information. As it is free to consume, it is accessible to everyone and works for internal sharing and for collaborating within the supply chain.

Theorem’s strategic partnership with Dassault Systemes ensures that there is parallel development between the latest releases of CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE and Theorems Publish 3D products, allowing Theorem to continue to provide publishing solutions to the CAD community.
