Spatial Announces Release 2018 1.0 for 3D InterOp

BROOMFIELD, CO, Aug 1, 2017 – Spatial Corp, the leading provider of 3D software development toolkits (SDKs) for design, manufacturing, and engineering solutions, and a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, today announced the availability of release 2018.1.0 for 3D InterOp. This release delivers significant enhancements to support model-based definition, as well as support for CAD system “persistent naming” in translation information, along with 3MF files for the additive manufacturing industry. This release also supports an ever increasing number of 3D file formats, extending the reach of engineering data.

“Our mission is to provide our customers the most robust, complete data translation solution available,” said David Hornsby, sr. manager, product manager for 3D InterOp, Spatial. “We focus on quality and performance to allow users to focus on their delivery rather than on managing multiple CAD formats. 3D InterOp continues to be the de facto standard for 3D data reuse, supporting the diverse needs of a wide range of engineering applications.”

Tightly Integrate Applications Into The Engineering Process

This release includes customer-driven enhancements to increase the richness of the data that can be extracted from CAD files. For example, 3D InterOp now offers full support for NX Model Views, allowing applications to offer their users the same logical groups available in the originating system. For applications that already processed Capture information available from 3DInterOP (e.g., CATIA files), this functionality is now available with NX data, requiring no additional programming.

Added Support For Re-Importing CAD Data

In many engineering processes, a model needs to be modified in one system, then those updates propagated through the rest of the application chain using that model as an input. Re-importing data and re-applying application operations to changed geometry can be a slow and potentially error-prone manual process. To help automate this re-import process, 3D InterOp now supports translation of CAD system persistent naming information. Persistent naming provides a mechanism for applications to be able to identify what has changed when reimporting a CAD file after it has been modified externally. This capability is fully supported for all CAD formats.

Connecting The Growing 3D Engineering Ecosystem

Spatial is continuously updating 3D InterOp translators to support new versions of CAD files as they are released, enabling end users to work with the latest technologies. Over the past year, Spatial has incorporated new versions of twelve major CAD formats, including most recently Creo 4.0, JT 10 and AutoCAD 2017.

A number of new file formats are now available to extend the range of files that end users can access, including MicroStation DGN reader, 3MF for additive manufacturing applications, plus SOLIDWORKS and CATIA 2D drawing reader for viewing CAD drawings.
