SIMSOLID is a revolutionary product that changes how simulation-driven design is done. Its innovative core technology eliminates geometry simplification and meshing, the two most time consuming and expertise extensive tasks done in traditional FEA. Moreover, SIMSOLID can analyze complex parts and large assemblies not practical with traditional FEA and do it efficiently on a desktop class computer. SIMSOLID enables quick design related “what if” questions on a scale not previously possible.

“We are excited to add SOLIDWORKS integration to our product” says SIMSOLID Corp. CEO Ken Welch. “Being able to directly access and analyze fully featured SOLIDWORKS geometry without meshing opens simulation to a whole new group of users and applications.”

How it works

Every installation of SIMSOLID now includes a SOLIDWORKS Add-in. This Add-in provides two methods for data integration. The first is a fast and efficient shared memory approach. Simply press the Start SIMSOLID button located on the Add-in menu panel to launch SIMSOLID from within SOLIDWORKS and pass the active design model through the shared memory pipe. This method is best when running SIMSOLID on the same computer as SOLIDWORKS. The second method integrates the same data but does so using a lightweight SIMSOLID formatted file.  This method is best when passing data between different machines or physical locations.

Both methods integrate the full hierarchical assembly structure. All part names and subassembly references are maintained. Part topology data along with associated material properties are passed directly to SIMSOLID.  Since geometry simplification is not required, both applications share an identical view of the design, making it fast and easy to do structural performance simulation.

Pricing and availability

SIMSOLID is available in two editions, Standard and Power. Pricing starts at $200 and is based on a convenient monthly or annual subscriptions. In addition, a free 30-day trial of the Standard edition is available. The SOLIDWORKS and Onshape data integrations are included in both product editions at no additional charge.
