To embed GD&T Advisor directly within PTC Creo 4.0
MCKINNEY, TX, Nov 2, 2016 – Sigmetrix, global experts in GD&T and mechanical variation, has partnered with PTC to embed GD&T Advisor directly within PTC Creo 4.0 software. With a clear goal of expanding the concept of Model-Based Definition to ‘Model Based Enterprise,’ this collaboration will allow Sigmetrix’ powerful GD&T Advisor to become more widely accessible. Embedding GD&T Advisor within Creo will allow for sharing information semantically downstream, bridging the gap between designing, manufacturing and assembling products.
“As an expert in GD&T and tolerance analysis software, and a PTC partner for 26 years, Sigmetrix is a natural choice for a technology collaboration with PTC,” said Brian Thompson, senior vice president, CAD Segment, PTC. “Sigmetrix has been a great partner with its GD&T Advisor software and CETOL 6σ tolerance analysis solutions, and we look forward to working with them to improve how GD&T is applied to the CAD model. This will alleviate a major hurdle for companies trying to move to a model-based definition (MBD) environment.”
“Earlier this year at LiveWorx 2016, we had the privilege of providing a preview of PTC Creo 4.0 and demonstrating the functionality that the new GD&T Advisor extension will offer,” stated Paul Sagar, VP of product management, PTC. “This technology will guide the user through the process of adding GD&T information onto the model, educate the user on the correct and appropriate GD&T for the selected geometry, verify that the GD&T information is correct and conforms to the appropriate standards, and validate that the model is fully constrained. Businesses will be able to simultaneously reduce their risk of misinterpretation and missing information, as well as increase productivity and create higher quality products.”
Applying GD&T is a necessary function of the design process, however, it is often perceived as a tedious, manual exercise where specifications are hand applied as a separate step. GD&T Advisor empowers designers to communicate permissible levels of imperfection in real-world manufactured parts from within PTC Creo. Sigmetrix is recognized globally for providing tolerance analysis software and GD&T software solutions. Their precise, easy-to-use software solutions are used by systems, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers worldwide to verify functionality and optimize designs. Sigmetrix also offers comprehensive GD&T training worldwide. Their trainers have real world experience in performing variation analyses, analyzing product design alternatives based on the analyses to achieve the most robust design possible, and applying GD&T to clearly define the requirements to manufacturing across many industries.
“We expect that PTC, as a leader in the industry, will continue its role in bridging the physical and digital worlds with its IoT and MBD (Model-Based Definition) initiatives.” said Chris Wilkes, president and CEO of Sigmetrix. “The release of Creo 4.0 is highly anticipated, and due to the collaboration between Sigmetrix and PTC, we are confident that engineers will be able to develop robust designs, complete with GD&T annotations, so that everyone downstream will have the necessary part data. We look forward to continuing our work with PTC and demonstrating the next generation GD&T solutions at PTC Forum Europe.”
Sigmetrix will be a Silver Sponsor of PTC Forum Europe, an action-packed full-day conference to be held November 15, 2016 at the ICS Messe Stuttgart in Germany. Sigmetrix will be available to discuss and demonstrate its software at booth S 07 in the Expo Hall.
PTC Forum Europe will provide the opportunity to hear from company executives, product experts and industry customers on topics that will expand your knowledge of the rapidly-evolving worlds of IoT, product development and service. Between sessions those in attendance will be able to network in the state-of-the-art expo hall and explore all the products and solutions in the PTC ecosystem.
