Sefaira for Revit Plug-in Offers Real-time Energy Analysis

sefaira-logoLONDON, UK & NEW YORK, NY, Sep 26, 2014 – Sefaira, the leader in software for high-performance building design, announced that it now delivers real-time energy analysis and daylighting analysis within Autodesk Revit. With the Sefaira for Revit plug-in, architects can now assess tradeoffs between energy and daylighting performance and make performance-based design decisions directly within their design environment, without having to use consultants or specialist modeling tools. Sefaira’s rapid feedback on energy and daylighting performance matches the workflow and fast pace of the architectural design process.

092614_SefairaforRevitRTAAs architects change Revit models to explore decisions like “What is the right amount of glazing on the South facade?” or “What effect does floor-to-floor height have on energy and daylighting?” Sefaira uses powerful cloud computing to provide performance information in seconds. Given the frequent tradeoff between good daylight and energy use, Sefaira’s Real Time Analysis includes feedback on both of these key factors to help designers drive towards high-performance design. Sefaira for Revit also provides benchmarks for energy targets such as the 2030 Challenge targets and reductions from Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) to help designers keep these targets in view and make sure projects are on track.

New Capabilities Align with Customers’ Strategic Priorities

Sefaira’s customers see clear benefits in having real-time energy analysis in Revit. Andre Carvalho, BIM manager at Diamond Schmitt said, “Being able to try different building performance scenarios at early stages in Revit allows us to pin down the orientation and envelope of the building very early in the design process and avoid the costly and time consuming model changes that would have happened otherwise.”

Sefaira for Revit extends the BIM paradigm BIM continues to gain traction. Sefaira for Revit extends the BIM paradigm using cloud analysis, a big step toward the “One-model” vision that many firms are working towards. Sefaira CEO Mads Jensen said, “Design teams increasingly use design tools like Revit for both early conceptual design as well as detailed design and documentation, with the goal of eliminating the need to rebuild a new model halfway through the design process. Throughout these project phases, design decisions made in Revit impact performance outcomes such as daylighting, occupant comfort, and energy consumption. Sefaira’s Real Time Analysis in Revit now allows designers to seamlessly integrate these building performance decisions into their collaborative design process by utilizing the intelligence of the Revit model to provide additional information about building performance.”

About Sefaira

Founded in 2009, Sefaira is the leader in software for high-performance building design. Using Sefaira, architects and other building designers now have the real-time analysis capabilities that enable them to practice performance-based design. This enables designers to create buildings that have the very best performance characteristics in terms of energy use, daylighting quality, carbon emissions, thermal comfort, construction and operating costs.

Sefaira won the 2014 Architizer A+ Product + Apps Jury Award, the 2013 Sustainability Leaders Innovation Award and the 2013 ENDS Green Economy – Green Data Award. It has been named to the 2013 Global Cleantech 100, the 2013 Red Herring Top 100 Global and the 2012 Going Green Global Top 200 private companies. The company also won Gold at the 2013 Ecosummit Award in Berlin as well as the “Green Building Innovation of the Year” award at London’s Ecobuild in 2011. Sefaira has offices in London, New York and Melbourne.
