QRP Acquires d-STATION-R1 3D Scanner

QRP_logoWEST JORDAN, UT, Oct 6, 2015 – Qualified Rapid Products (QRP), the Intermountain West’s first 3D metal printed parts supplier, announced the acquisition of a d-STATION-R1 3D scanner. QRP provides comprehensive engineering services specializing in metal additive manufacturing – focusing on turn-key delivery of high-precision, low-volume functional parts.

100615_d-STATION“Our 3D scanner has incredible accuracy – capable of qualified inspection and geometric verification,” said QRP CEO Rob Smith. The d-STATION-R1 is made by Breuckmann, one of the oldest players in the scanning market, and is ideal for scanning small items of about 2-3 inches. Smith continued, “Typical cheap scanners have an accuracy of about 125 microns. Our 3D scanner features 10-micron accuracy – approaching that of a CMM (typically 2.5 microns).”

QRP uses state-of-the-art Polyworks Inspector Software in conjunction with the Breuckmann scanner, and also owns a Concept Laser 3D metal printer. 3D scans can be used to replicate existing parts and can generate an .stl to use either for future CAD work or for future 3D printing. QRP places high emphasis on inspection and verification to ensure its products meet customer requirements.

QRP provides quick-turnaround metal parts for mechanical engineers who need a product that has been qualified, is shape/weight optimized, and/or is a low-cost functional iteration.
