MAPLE PLAIN, MN, Mar 7, 2016 – Proto Labs’ executive vice president and chief technology officer, Don Krantz, has been chosen as an honoree in Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 2016 Titans of Technology awards. Recipients were selected by the publication’s editorial team and a panel of industry experts.

According to the Minneapolis-based magazine, the third-annual awards honor “the region’s outstanding technology professionals” with Krantz receiving honors in the CIO/CTO category as a “top IT executive of a public, private or nonprofit company.”

Krantz has been with Proto Labs – a software-driven digital manufacturing company that specializes in custom prototypes and low-volume production parts – for more than 10 years and has served in his current role for the past two years. He has a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Minnesota and has held previous positions at MTS Systems, Alliant Techsystems and Honeywell Defense Systems.

“I am very honored by this award, but achievements in technology are never an individual effort,” explains Krantz. “It takes a highly collaborative culture of software teams in the office and production teams on the manufacturing floor for a company like Proto Labs to succeed. Luckily, we have that here.”

Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s awards luncheon to honor all of its Titans of Technology is planned for Thursday, April 14 followed by a profile of winners in the Journal’s April 15 issue.
