Practical Machinist Partners with Workshops for Warriors

Practical Machinist has formed a partnership with Workshops for Warriors. Practical Machinist will be donating 10 percent of the profits from its new online store to the cause.

Workshops for Warriors works to solve two systemic issues: rebuilding America’s advanced manufacturing talent workforce and ensuring service members and veterans successfully transition into stable, high-tech manufacturing careers.

Since 2008, the nonprofit has trained and certified 496 veterans, wounded warriors and transitioning service members, awarding more than 3,000 nationally recognized third-party credentials. In 2017, 94 percent of the school’s graduates obtained jobs in advanced manufacturing after completing the program.

Practical Machinist’s new online store will sell a variety of branded and manufacturing-themed products, including t-shirts, hoodies and caps. The store was launched earlier this month, with plans to continue increasing the range of products offered. For Practical Machinist, launching this online store is another way to keep its community connected and help showcase the reach it has in the metalworking industry.

Whether looking for technical information about an application or just commiserating over tough times, Practical Machinist has brought a sense of community and support to many. Its forums provide a first-hand look into metalworking industry sentiment about important topics; industry insiders continually turn to Practical Machinist to find lively, uncensored discussions and advice on the issues that matter to them.
