Advanced multi-core, multi-threaded processing in the latest Intel Xeon processor offering provides up to 18 cores and 36 threads per socket on most NextComputing platforms, be it a portable workstation or compact rackmount. This translates to a potential for 36 cores in a dual-processor NextComputing system. Larger cache and faster memory further enhance system performance for compute-intensive applications.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product family adds 50 percent more cores and cache over the previous generation and includes numerous other hardware enhancements, such as Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (Intel AVX2) and Intel Quick Path Interconnect link (QPI). These innovations deliver up to 2.2X the performance over the previous generation to significantly boost output across a broad set of workloads.

In addition, Intel’s hardware-enhanced security technologies on the new processor product family better protect data and platforms through workload isolation, security policy enforcement, and faster data encryption.

NextComputing customer applications that will benefit from the performance boost that the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product families provide include: network packet processing, big data analysis, video encoding, and oilfield seismic interpretation.

The newest multi-core Intel Xeon processors are available on any of the following systems:

  • Portable Servers and Workstations – The portable, hand carried Radius EX, Radius EX Plus, and Radius PRM systems support single- or dual-processor configurations for enterprise-class performance anywhere you need it.
  • Rugged Portable Workstations – Ruggedized, portable systems such as the Vigor EX provide environmental protection against shock, vibration, and dust for mission-critical computing, ideal for field applications such as military/intelligence operations and oil/gas remote data management.
  • Dense Rackmounts – The Nucleus RM series of compact rack systems offer ultra high-end performance in less space than typical rackmounts, allowing deployment into vehicles, fly-packs, or other mobile accommodations.
