KZF Design Selects Woolpert for UC College of Business

The 225,000-square-foot, $100 million facility will be built on the university’s main campus and adjacent to the site of the current College of Business, which will be torn down after the new school is occupied. The new facility will be more than double the size of the current one.

Andrew Pack, Woolpert vice president and athletics and education practice leader, said this a signature win for the firm’s higher education practice and local core disciplines.

“It highlights our fully integrated engineering solutions—civil, structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) and landscape architecture,” Pack said. “Having multiple engineering services in-house allows us to better coordinate and collaborate, and streamlines the decision-making process.”

BuroHappold Consulting Engineers, a multi-disciplinary international firm, is Woolpert’s strategic engineering partner on this project.Henning Larsen Architects of Copenhagen, Denmark, is providing design architecture services.

KZF Design is the project’s architect of record.

The building will be constructed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Level status, which is the second highest designation from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The conceptual design process has begun for this project, which is expected to break ground in summer 2017. The new UC College of Business is scheduled to open for classes in fall 2019.
