This year’s recipients were honored at CAU2015 being held at HxGN LIVE, the annual user conference for Intergraph and Hexagon’s other brands.

The annual Drivers of Success competition recognizes innovative applications of the products, impressive project results and significant benefits from collaboration among disciplines and the integration of the products. The competition is open to users of Intergraph CADWorx, CAESAR II, PV Elite and TANK who submit stories throughout the year and share their successes using these software products. The winning entry for each product received a complimentary HxGN LIVE fee, hotel accommodations and round-trip travel to CAU2015@HxGN LIVE from their respective city.

The 2015 Drivers of Success recipients are:

  • CADWorx – Ren Jianchun of China Hi-Tech (Jiangxi) Textile Design Institute Co., Ltd., China, for an 80,000-tons-per-year viscose staple fiber production facility. Three-dimensional design work included more than 3,000 pipelines with a total length of 55,000 meters and 64,000 fittings. The accuracy of the material list greatly improved and about 2,120 labor hours were saved. The company, which was founded in 1958, has 80 employees and focuses on textile industry projects, including textile engineering, printing engineering, chemical engineering and chemical fiber raw materials engineering.
  • CAESAR II – Sonali Parekh of L&T Valdel Engineering Limited, India, for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel that is turret-moored with risers in a maximum water depth of 1,425 meters. The process plant has capacity to produce and treat 80,000 bpd of crude oil, 65,000 bpd of produced water (non-concurrent) and 180 MMscfd of gas. LTV developed a macro to interface between PDMS and CAESAR II, saving 85 percent of modeling time. L&T Valdel Engineering Limited is the engineering group of Larsen & Toubro Limited’s upstream oil and gas operating company. It provides engineering services for oil and gas projects spanning diverse lines of business like well head and process platforms, FPSO topsides, pipeline systems and drilling rigs.
  • PV Elite & TANK – Rohitash Panwar of WorleyParsons, Abu Dhabi, UAE, for more than 300 mechanical design calculations that were performed in PV Elite and TANK for an upstream production facilities and infrastructure project to meet a target of 1.2 million bpd of oil production. The team reduced the number of labor hours while gaining high accuracy in comparison to performing the calculation in manual spreadsheets. WorleyParsons is a multinational company comprising 35,100 employees, throughout 157 offices in 46 countries. It delivers projects, provides expertise in engineering, procurement and construction and offers a wide range of consulting and advisory services in the hydrocarbons, mineral, metals, chemicals and infrastructure sectors.

The 2015 runners up are Jichao Wei, Shandong Provincial Textile Design Institute, China and Vince Wehnes, Gas Liquids Engineering, Canada, for CADWorx; Manoj Devani, L&T-Chiyoda, India, and Bhaskar Shitole, Amec Foster Wheeler, Canada, for CAESAR II; and Mitulkumar Patel, WorleyParsons – Resources & Energy, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for PV Elite.
