Human Solutions to Show ARVIDA Project at CeBI

HumanSolutions_logoKAISERSLAUTERN, Germany, Mar 6, 2015 – From March 16 to 20, 2015, the Kaiserslautern-based company Human Solutions GmbH will be at the BMBF booth in Hall 9 at the CeBIT. The company will be showcasing its latest developments in the field of dynamic ergonomics simulation within the context of the ARVIDA project (Applied Reference Architecture for Virtual Services and Application).

arv_logoFunded by the BMBF and involving 22 partners from industry, small and medium enterprises and the world of science, the ARVIDA project objective is to research the possibilities of an interoperable system world for virtual technology applications (VT). The role of Human Solutions in ARVIDA is to develop new software tools for a simpler and faster product development process in the automotive industry.

A pioneering application is being developed for dynamic ergonomics simulation in cooperation with application partner Daimler. This application will be presented at the CeBIT BMBF booth in the “Ergonomics Simulation in the Commercial Vehicle” exhibit.

The aim is to address the dynamic movement sequences of a human being in the early conception phase of labor and product environment development. Currently available design tools simply make static statements about movements – and this only achieves limited ergonomic significance.

In the project, the movements of test persons are recorded while they are performing typical activities in a commercial vehicle. A digital human model is then used to break these movements down into individual sequences to automatically detect motion patterns. These individual sequences are then parameterized with respect to the body dimensions of the test subjects and the dimensions of the vehicle environment. This enables various body profiles of the vehicle occupants to be studied and different geometrical adjustments to be made on the vehicle itself. The data obtained in this way is then merged with the 3D environmental geometry of the vehicle in the ergonomics tool RAMSIS. The movements of test person collectives can now be simulated, without having to perform complex motion measurements beforehand. These simulations form the basis for obtaining representative information on the ergonomic quality of the vehicle concept (e.g. vehicle access step height) at an early stage of development of the vehicle – and this is information which will have an active impact on the design of the vehicle.

The application for commercial vehicles in the ARVIDA project is based on an already deployable technology and when the project has been successfully completed, Human Solutions plans to use this technology for applications in other vehicle industries like the automotive and construction vehicle sectors.
