Granta to Launch MI:Enterprise Connect for Teamcenter

Releases MI:Materials Gateway v4.1

CAMBRIDGE, UK, May 13, 2016 – Granta Design announced two major enhancements in materials support for CAD, CAE and product lifecycle management (PLM) – providing product development teams with enhanced  access to reliable, controlled materials data, saving time and improving the consistency and quality of materials decisions. At next week’s Siemens PLM Connection meeting in Orlando, FL, Granta will launch a new integration option, MI:Enterprise Connect for Teamcente, that enables automated enterprise-level synchronization of approved materials datasets from the GRANTA MI materials information management software into Teamcenter PLM. Granta has also released the latest version of its MI:Materials Gateway embedded applications for direct end-user access to materials data from within a broad range of CAD, CAE, and PLM software, supporting fast product analytics and accurate simulation. Further demonstrations follow at Dassault Systèmes and PTC user events and an upcoming Granta webinar.

Materials catalog definition in the new integration option, MI:Enterprise Connect for Teamcenter.

GRANTA MI is the leading system for managing design-critical materials information – both authoring proprietary intellectual property from test results through to validated design data, and publishing reference data from trusted third parties. The new MI:Enterprise Connect enables organizations to define summary catalogs of materials from their GRANTA MI implementation and to schedule automatic synchronization of this data at the server level with Teamcenter, maintaining formal revision control. Assignments to product designs can then be made using Teamcenter Integrated Material Management – taking advantage of the PLM product structure context. This approach is particularly suited to deploying and maintaining approved or preferred materials lists derived by materials or commodities teams.

At Siemens PLM Connection, Denise Massa of General Motors and Shirish More of Siemens PLM will present on ‘End to End Material Lifecycle Management’ at 9.45AM on Tuesday, May 17, reviewing these concepts and their application. Granta’s Dr Arthur Fairfull will introduce MI:Enterprise Connect in his presentation ‘Authoring Materials Knowledge into Teamcenter Integrated Material Management’ at 2PM on Wednesday, May 18 in the Knowledge Theater.

GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway for Abaqus/CAE. Search and browse your corporate materials database and find materials data to use in simulation.

MI:Materials Gateway version 4.1 is an update of Granta’s established technology for direct end-user access to materials data and related analytics via an embedded app within CAD, CAE, or PLM. This release further enhances user experience, including extremely responsive database browsing. Particular benefits for CAE analysts include enhanced handling of parameters such as temperature or strain rate and the ability to preview material card input prior to import to simulations—providing an intuitive and complete workflow, supported by consistent data access and full traceability.

Dr Patrick Coulter, chief operating officer at Granta Design said: “We work closely with our customers and with partners including Siemens PLM, Dassault Systèmes, and PTC to identify and meet the varied needs of users of CAD, CAE, and PLM for access to the right materials information and software functionality. There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution and these new releases enhance support for different implementation strategies and solution architectures as companies build and deploy corporate ‘gold sources’ for material intelligence.”

MI:Materials Gateway supports: the CATIA, Creo, Inventor, and NX CAD systems; Abaqus/CAE, ANSYS, HyperMesh and NX CAE software; and Teamcenter and Windchill PLM. Granta will present the latest version at Dassault Systèmes’ ‘Science in the Age of Experience’ meeting in Boston, MA (May 23-25) and PTC LiveWorx in Boston, MA (June 5-8).

Granta will host a webinar on ‘Material Intelligence for CAD and PLM’ on June 16 (www.grantadesign.com/events). Or, for an overview of the latest trends and technologies, download the new Granta White Paper ‘Material Intelligence for Enterprise CAD and PLM’ at www.grantadesign.com/papers/.
