German RepRap 3D Print Filament Promises Smooth Surface

GermanRepRap_logoFELDKIRCHEN, Germany, Jan 21, 2015 – With the new Performance PLA, German RepRap has developed a filament for 3D printers with exceptional printing properties. Objects printed with this PLA filament come directly out of the 3D printer with a very optically smooth surface, looking like they’ve been refinished. Performance PLA requires a lower printing temperature, which reduces warping and offers better adhesion compared to the conventional PLA. The material is also less brittle. This makes the filament suitable not only for the most demanding home users, but also for industrial customers.

012115_GermanRepRapThis PLA, developed by German RepRap specifically for 3D printers, has a special structure that provides good material properties. Conventional filaments often have structures with properties tailored to classic application areas, such as injection molding. However, the development of the Performance PLA’s material properties was specifically adapted to the additive object construction in 3D printing, thus ensuring optimum printing results.

The Performance PLA is available exclusively from German RepRap on 2.1 kg (Ø3 mm) and 750 g (Ø3 mm / Ø1.75 mm) spools from 27.99 EUR, online or directly from German RepRap sales partners world-wide (Australia, US, India, Switzerland, Russia) and retailers with German RepRap products. It can be used with all standard RepRap 3D printers that use manufacturer-independent filament.
