TOLLAND, CT, Jan 26, 2015 – Gerber Scientific, Inc., a world leader in integrated solutions for the apparel and industrial markets announced that John Capasso joined the company as chief financial officer.
Capasso was most recently CFO of Varel International Energy Services, and brings a unique combination of public and private company experience to Gerber. He will oversee corporate finance, accounting, tax, investor relations and information technology, and report to Gerber’s president and chief executive officer, Mike Elia.
“John’s successful track record as operating vice president and CFO of both public and private companies made him the perfect candidate to step into this important role on our management team and be an instant contributor,” said Elia. “We’re excited to have found a seasoned veteran who is eager to help us build on our growing financial strength and scale a business as diverse as ours.”

Capasso, a CPA, earned his undergraduate degree in business, majoring in accounting, at Boston College. He later attended the MBA program at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
