Elgris, ScanCAD Partner for Reverse Engineering

Elgris_logoSANTA ROSA, CA and LITTLETON, CO, Feb 18, 2016 – Elgris Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of schematic/netlist visualization and schematic/netlist translation solutions, and ScanCAD International, Inc., the leading provider of legacy re-engineering (RE) tools, announced today that they have signed a Reseller Agreement. The Agreement will enable ScanCAD to distribute Elgris’s “E-studio For Test” product with ScanCAD systems via its global sales & support network. This combination will provide a comprehensive reverse engineering solution for companies that need to generate intelligent schematics for legacy PCBs or products where the original CAD data has been lost or destroyed.

ScanCAD’s RE systems include PC-based software combined with a fully integrated, NIST calibrated, optical scanner that permits the creation of CAD data (DXF/Gerber/Drill/CNC) from existing multilayer PCBs, parts, photo tools, stencils, drawings, microfiche, PDF files, X-Ray images, etc. The systems include a full Gerber editor that can be used to import, modify and export DXF, Gerber & Drill data as well as the ability to create component BOM data and component library information that are integral to creating the complete Board Fabrication data packages and netlist formats that are prerequisites for schematic generation.

The Elgris “E-studio For Test” product provides a unique solution that can generate intelligent PCB schematics from the connectivity within IPC-D-356 netlists produced by the ScanCAD RE tools. The generated PCB schematics can be viewed in the”E-studio For Test” itself or can be saved to popular schematic formats like searchable Adobe PDF, Cadence’s OrCAD Capture, Cadence’s ConceptHDL, Mentor’s DxDesigner, Altium Designer, etc. In addition to the PCB netlist debugging, schematic generation and translation technology, the “E-studio For Test” tool includes the Netlist Comparator, BOM and other utilities to help engineers work with the data produced by the ScanCAD systems.

Commenting on the announcement, William Loving, president of ScanCAD, said, “Our customers have asked us to add intelligent Schematic Generation capability to the PCB reverse engineering solution we offer. In order to meet this request, we are very pleased to collaborate with Elgris Technologies in offering an integrated solution. We looked at the major players and opted to distribute the Elgris “E-studio For Test” product as it had the required functionality, was priced competitively and integrated well with our existing solutions.”

Igor Luvishis, president of Elgris Technologies, said, “We are delighted that ScanCAD International has selected to be the Reseller of our tools. The combination of our powerful product “E-studio For Test” with ScanCAD’s RE system creates a compelling solution for companies looking for cost-effective PCB reverse-engineering flows. Customers will gain by getting access to intelligent PCB schematics generated from Gerbers or IPC356 netlists and presented in multiple schematic CAD formats.”
