IRVINE, CA, May 30, 2017 – Desktop Metal, the industry’s first company to accomplish economical metal 3D printing, has named Purple Platypus their diamond level reseller. The news was announced in Pittsburgh at the annual RAPID show where the company debuted their new line of printers.

Designed as an end-to-end solution, the Studio System offers the ability to produce highly complex metal parts straight from the comfort of an office while reducing costs by 20 percent. Purple Platypus will be the first to receive the Studio System in its Irvine showroom this summer and is ready to begin taking pre-orders for the system that will begin shipping by the end of summer 2017.

Desktop Metal’s Production System delivers speed, quality, and cost-per-part needed to compete with traditional mass production manufacturing methods. Using Single Pass Jetting technology (SPJ), the printer can produce printing speeds of up to 8200 cubic cm per hour, 100 times faster than laser based systems. The new line from Desktop Metal is set to release to the public in 2018.
