DEM Solutions Appoints Bryan Taylor as Board Chairman

DEMSolutions_logoEDINBURGH, Scotland, July 30, 2014 – DEM Solutions, the discrete element method (DEM) specialist and market leader has appointed Bryan Taylor as the new chairman of the Board.

Mr Taylor has a strong track record and experience as chairman of multiple global software companies across a number of industries. He has also held senior executive leadership positions with Fujitsu Computers, ICL Personal Systems, Nokia and Nixdorf Computers.

The new chairman will work with the existing DEM senior leadership team of Ian Williamson VP sales & marketing, Richard LaRoche VP engineering and software development and Gordon Grant VP finance.

The management team’s focus is on the continued strategic development of the company which is focused on making EDEM highly integrated with other CAE tools and working closely with the international CAE community to help increase productivity, reduce cost of operations, shorten product development cycles and drive product innovation.

Simulation is already an established method of investigating engineering challenges and providing insights into how designs will perform, before things are physically built. DEM’s simulation technology enables ‘virtual testing’ of equipment design providing engineers with a tool that reduces design risk by increasing confidence that equipment will meet performance requirements.

Bryan Taylor commented on his new appointment: “I am delighted to be joining such a successful and high potential business at this point in its strategic development. I’m confident that I bring a great deal of suitable insight and experience to add value to the business.

We offer the world’s leading DEM simulation software supported by expert advice on deployment along with model calibration and engineering simulation services and I‘m looking forward to working with the established management team to further develop our industry credentials and profile.”

In recent years, engineering simulation technologies for structural analysis and fluid flow have gone from R&D to mainstream engineering design tools. However, until more recently the combination of software and hardware technology required to provide similar capability for bulk materials such as ores, coal, grains and bulk solids such as powders, pills and pellets was not available to industry. DEM’s software utilizes the new generation of high performance desktop computers providing clients with simulation solutions that transforms how they go about designing and optimizing bulk particle handling and processing equipment.

The appointment of the new chairman follows the global release in April of the company’s latest EDEM software. The new software has been received well by global customers as it offers the benefits of forty additional and improved features increasing its usability, reliability, productivity and connectivity with other CAE tools.
