InterSpec Co-founder Gilles Letourneau Appointed as President, CEO

InterSpec welcomes Matthew Hoffner as board-appointed chairman and acting managing director

interspec_logoPORTLAND, ME, June 25, 2014 – InterSpec, Inc., the industry leading provider of BIM integrated construction specification software and services, announces the transition of co-founder and chief technology officer, Gilles Letourneau, to president and CEO. With more than 30 years experience within the AEC industry, Letourneau was appointed by the board of directors to lead and sustain strategic development. As president, Letourneau will guide pivotal planning projects as well as continue to enhance service and product offerings.

Letourneau, a graduate of Syracuse University’s School of Architectural with an M.S.Arch from California Polytechnic University, has a strong and long-standing background in architecture and computer programming. Beginning in the 1980s and early 1990s – with the emergence of computer-aided design – Letourneau’s conception of e-SPECS was based upon his experiences teaching at California Polytechnic State University and participating in the research of the ICAD Laboratory.

“It always amazes me – when I look back at InterSpec’s humble beginnings – to witness the growth and the encouragement from our customer base, the industry’s leading Architectural and Engineering firms,” said Letourneau. “We started with a simple notion to connect CAD systems to specification documents and never looked back. Having built a fundamentally sound technology, the future looks bright. I’m thrilled to lead InterSpec in reaching our full potential.”

In addition, InterSpec is proud to welcome Matthew Hoffner as board-appointed chairman and acting managing director. Hoffner‘s appointment follows years creating, leading and managing organizations from start-up to sale. Hoffner is a member of the board and past chairman of the Maine Venture Fund, one of the principal shareholders of InterSpec.

With a background in engineering, Hoffner has ten years experience as a manager for Exxon Corp. He came to Maine in 1988 as one of the original members of the WEX management team when it was in its startup phase. Hoffner was the founder of Integra Associates and JobsInTheUS.com – both successful Maine startup companies. He was also a founding partner in the startup and growth of Jobg8, Inc., an international marketplace for job boards.

“I am excited to join the InterSpec team. We have a unique product for the specification services industry and a core group of employees that have the experience and energy to drive significant growth for many years. I am looking forward to supporting Gilles and the rest of the team,” said Hoffner.
