CCE Updates ODX CATIA Read/Write Libraries

cce_logoFARMINGTON HILLS, MI, Jan 14, 2015 – CCE, a leading provider in advanced interoperability technology and engineering services, has released updates of its Open Data eXchange (ODX) libraries.

011415_CCE“While CCE’s libraries provide robust support for geometry data, attribute information is also critical to fully describe the product data model,” said Vinay Wagle, VP of marketing & sales. “The updated release of CCE’s ODX CATIA libraries feature a number of enhancements for attribute support requested by our ISV user base.” added Vinay.

The libraries feature a number of user requested enhancements:

  • Improved accuracy in the fillet surface evaluation routine by providing more accurate points & first derivatives.
  • Attribute support has been improved:

    – The body’s (hybrid body/part body/geometric sets/ordered geometric sets) last feature name is now supported which provides additional flexibility for translators to represent solids & sheets with the names, as displayed in the CATIA V5 feature tree.

    – User parameter support enhanced by providing its global name, associated with entity type & its visibility status.

    – Sketch names & a flag have been added to indicate its usage status (if consumed by a feature or existing as stand-alone wire bodies).

    – Persistent IDs has been provided for assembly joint elements (welds).

    – In order to identify a published entity without ambiguity, its owner identifier is provided for published entities.

  • Attributes support for assembly files has been enhanced by providing instance properties created using the piping, equipment, HVAC, electrical, multi-discipline, & Hanger workbenches.
  • Persistent identifiers support has been extended by providing document (CATPart/CATProduct/CATShape) identifiers without opening the document; this was previously only provided for opened documents.
  • Material properties support has been extended by providing ability to read & write shear stress limit of a material.

About Open Data eXchange (ODX)

Open Data eXchange (ODX) libraries read & write Native CAD data. File formats that are currently supported for ODX include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, NX, SOLIDWORKS, Pro/E, JT, Solid Edge, Parasolid, IGES, STEP, 3D PDF, VDA, & STL. Applications developed using ODX libraries are independent of CAD. The libraries written in C & C++ are easy to implement & follow software releases via continuous updates. Apart from licensing the library components, they also provide integrations services to integrate our libraries into customer applications. The true benefit of using their ODX libraries is the reduced cost to the user. Their ODX libraries do not require CAD software or licenses, which can be quite costly. ODX gives the user the ability to read & write native CAD files without the cost of ownership associated with the CAD system.
