CAEfatigue VIBRATION Available to HyperWorks Users

Altair_logoTROY, MI, Jan 15, 2015 – Altair Partner Alliance (APA) announced that CAEfatigue VIBRATION is available to HyperWorks users for download. CAEfatigue VIBRATION is a frequency-based fatigue solver and random response post processor developed by CAEfatigue Ltd.

“Frequency-based methods for response and fatigue life estimation offer the promise of very efficient, elegant and sophisticated design procedures,” said Dr. Neil Bishop, director at CAEfatigue Ltd. “Lightweighting through optimization and resource pooling both become possible. We are extremely happy to be joining the Altair Partner Alliance, and together we will enable this exciting new technology to reach more customers across all territories of the world.”

CAEfatigue VIBRATION is comprised of essentially two products in one: a powerful random response post processor for the frequency domain and a unique vibration fatigue solver. It works with mixed random and deterministic loading sources, a process not previously available, to provide fatigue life and damage predictions, as well as several forms of response statistics that were not possible before this code. It is exceptionally fast, easy-to-use and capable of handling particularly large models.

“Altair is thrilled to be expanding its durability offering with the addition of CAEfatigue VIBRATION,” said Uwe Schramm, chief technical officer at Altair. “It is a unique solution, bringing the ability to simultaneously perform frequency domain fatigue life calculations and random response analysis to our customers, a capability they have not had in the past.”

The CAEfatigue VIBRATION random response tool contains a wide array of capabilities, including calculation of response statistics such as stress peaks, strain peaks and stress and strain root mean square (RMS), the latter of which includes the elastic and plastic components estimated using stress-strain material properties. The CAEfatigue VIBRATION fatigue tool efficiently provides fatigue damage/life calculations for components subjected to single or multiple random vibration load inputs. Deterministic loads can easily be mixed with random and static offsets to create complex load inputs. These capabilities are widely applicable across most industries, with major opportunities in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Available for the past 14 years, Altair’s innovative unit-based licensing system allows HyperWorks users customizable access to a growing portfolio of applications, optimizing their return on investment (ROI) by making more than 20 in-house-developed applications available by use of a single pool of recyclable HyperWorks units (HWUs).

Altair also has offered the opportunity for third-party companies to run their own applications under this unit-based system, a collaboration now known as the Altair Partner Alliance. The overall flexibility of these HWUs empowers users via access to the largest, most complete suite of CAE applications available. The ROI increases for users each time a new application is added to the offering, since any of the partner programs can be accessed using the same leased HWUs they are already using to run HyperWorks. This makes more than 60 additional applications available at no incremental cost or long-term commitment.
