Bitfusion Launches Boost Beta at SuperComputing 2015

Offers instant performance improvements for high-performance, GPU-accelerated applications

Application performance demands have outpaced Moore’s Law. Traditional approaches to improving performance, like buying more hardware or rewriting applications, are expensive propositions for most organizations. Tackling existing time and cost challenges, while meeting ever-increasing performance demands and taking advantage of hardware-based innovations to maximize IT investments requires a fundamentally new approach to computing.

Boost Beta allows users to automatically upgrade their applications’ performance without replacing or upgrading their hardware. With the combination of the largest set of custom-compiled and pre-optimized open-source libraries and Bitfusion’s unique bursting technology, Boost Beta is able to automatically accelerate leading applications in data analytics, machine learning, rendering, imaging, video processing, and scientific computing. Boost Beta exposes unused hardware capabilities, providing order of magnitude performance gains for a fraction of the cost of a rip-and-replace.

“So many startups and mid-market companies require faster speeds and better performance not just to keep up with the competition, but to get ahead and really flourish in today’s technology-driven economy,” said Subbu Rama, co-founder and CEO of Bitfusion. “Until now, the costs of upgrading to high-performance speeds was prohibitive. Boost Beta is dramatically cutting the price tag for speed and bringing supercomputing performance to the masses.”

To get started, users can download Boost directly onto their machines or onto their cloud. Boost Beta then automatically and transparently takes advantage of all available system resources and bursts out portions of a workload to hardware accelerators in the cloud.

“Currently, the only recourse for dealing with growing mounds of data in compute-intensive industries is to add CPU-based server nodes which add cost and inefficiencies,” said Bitfusion co-founder and CTO Mazhar Memon. “With Boost Beta, we’re introducing a fundamentally new technology. A user of Boost Beta can achieve instant performance gains by simply installing our software which allows them to bust out to pools of high-performance hardware automatically, all without code recompile.”

Boost Beta currently accelerates applications for scientific computing, data science, rendering, machine learning, CFD, CAD, and image processing, including:

  • Blender
  • ImageMagick
  • R
  • NumPy
  • Octave
  • Matlab
  • FFmpeg
  • Torche

Boost Beta will be priced on a per node basis starting at $80/month or $800/year.

The Bitfusion team is presenting Boost Beta to the public this week at SuperComputing 2015 in Austin, TX from November 16-19, 2015. Attendees of Supercomputing 2015 can see demos of Bitfusion’s latest breakthroughs at Booth #2708 in the main exhibitor space.
