Avante Technology Releases Emendov1.0 for STL File Repair

AvanteTechnology_logoCHEYENNE, WY, July 23, 2015 – Avante Technology, LLC, developer of advanced technology for 3D printers, released version 1.0 of its Emendo Automated STL File Repair software for MS Windows.

Designed to address the growing complexity of STL files created from various types of source applications, this “one button” application provides two completely different repair methods that can be combined to repair more complex files without the user needing to know anything about 3D mesh technology.

“Validating STL files is a key factor to improving the quality and number of successful 3D prints on any system,” said Robert Zollo, president of Avante Technology. “Hobbyists, as well as designers and engineers, will benefit from repairing and validating their files before printing.”

The software provides a simple, one button interface. A selected STL file is automatically analyzed for the seven types of problems that can occur in the STL mesh that describes the object’s surface. Errors are automatically displayed by type, number and location. A 360º viewer displays the location of errors by color coded markings on the surface of the object. Users can learn what to areas to improve in future designs.

Users have the option to use three different repair modes using different types and combinations of repair algorithms for a broader repair capability than what can be obtained from conventional repair software. These state-of-the-art algorithms are optimized to solve a variety of error scenarios that result from using a mix of source applications to create complex, hybrid 3D files.

Unlike using on-line repair services, the user gets immediate, accurate repair and feedback on the problems encountered with the design. If a partial repair occurs, the user simply selects the repair button again, and the software will continue completing the repair.

Selectable Precision Levels

Users can save time without sacrificing quality by selecting from a range of precision levels. The low precision setting saves a great deal of time when the printed object does not require fine resolution, or where the precision level of the selected 3D printer is relatively low. The high precision setting offers the highest level of precision possible at the expense of longer repair time.

Systems Supported

Version 1.0 runs under Windows 7 and 8.

Mac OS 10 versions and an SDK for commercial applications are also available.
