ASCENT Collaborates with 4D Tech on Training Resources

ASCENTlogoBALTIMORE, MD, Dec 3, 2014 – Rand Worldwide, a global leader in providing technology solutions to organizations with engineering design and information technology requirements, today announced that its courseware division, ASCENT- Center for Technical Knowledge, and 4D Technologies, developers of the industry leading CADLearning video library, plan to collaborate on the creation of products that bring together training guide and video content from both parties. The first such product type planned will see ASCENT add video from the CADLearning video library into its Autodesk Official Training Guide eBooks. Already the sole provider of Autodesk Official Training Guides (AOTG), ASCENT’s new multi-format eBook will combine their industry leading content with rich video to create an unrivalled learning experience.

“ASCENT is the leading provider of training guides for Autodesk software training while CADLearning is the leading video-based learning resource,” says Paul Burden, director of product development, ASCENT. “This planned collaboration will provide the best of both types of content to instructors, students, and self-learners. The association of hundreds of CADLearning videos with each Autodesk Official Training Guide from ASCENT will enable instructors to immediately point to the perfect example to help illustrate a concept. Complementing the written content and exercises, this rich video content will create an experience that enhances the classroom environment as well as support self-learners with practical visual demonstrations of key concepts, tricks and tips.”

ASCENT first plans to include CADLearning in a video enhanced eBook version of AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2015 Essentials. A prototype will be available for demonstration at ASCENT’s Autodesk University booth (#249). This eBook will include 164 different videos with a total video playing time of over 11 hours.

“By working together with ASCENT, we’re combining the two top industry content offerings in one multi-platform learning tool,” says Matt Murphy, director of content management and development, 4D Technologies. “Text, images, exercises, and video demonstrations work together to support various learning styles and reinforce learning in a way that allows users the flexibility to absorb the information in the way they learn best.”
