Arup Announces New Americas Region Board

Arup_logoLOS ANGELES, CA, Apr 11, 2016 – Consulting firm Arup, a global leader in the built environment, has announced the appointment of a new Americas Region Board effective April 1, 2016.

In his 29 years with Arup, Andy has exemplified the firm’s commitment to providing unmatched value to clients. He has served in a variety of leadership roles for the firm, including Group CIO and Americas Region COO. He sees the disruptive nature of the digital economy as a huge source of opportunity and plans to drive a progressive digital strategy that positions Arup as a leader in a radically different AEC industry.

Leo Argiris, chief operating Officer

Leo Argiris has over three decades of experience as a structural engineer and business leader. He has served as the managing principal of the New York office, led the social infrastructure and education business for Arup, and designed world-class institutional and commercial projects across the globe. As COO, Leo continues to focus on the progression of Arup and Arup’s staff.

Susan Baer

Susan Baer is Arup’s Global Aviation Business Leader, involved in some of the largest aviation projects in the world. Baer joined Arup in 2013 following 37 years with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, during which time she held various positions, most recently Director of Aviation.

Ignacio Barandiaran

Ignacio directs Arup’s team of technical and financial transaction advisors delivering deal advice, due diligence, and project structuring/feasibility assessments for transportation, energy and utilities, and social infrastructure projects across the Americas. Since 2008, Arup has helped its clients successfully finance infrastructure projects worth over $190 billion, winning global accolades along the way.

Peter Chamley

Peter Chamley leads Arup’s infrastructure work globally and is a recognized leader in tunnelling and underground metro design. He has engineered some of the most ambitious tunnelling projects worldwide, including the Second Avenue Subway in New York City and Crossrail in London.

Fiona Cousins

Fiona Cousins is an Arup Fellow and a recognized authority in sustainability and design. She is the 2016 chair of the USGBC bgoard of directors, co-author of Two Degrees: Climate Change and the Built Environment, and Chair of Arup University in the Americas, the firm’s program to foster innovation, research, learning, and knowledge.

Chris Luebkeman

Dr. Chris Luebkeman is Arup’s director for Global Foresight, Research, and Innovation. In his role as global thought-leader and futurist, he works with some of the world’s most progressive companies to better prepare for and take advantage of change.

Raj Patel

Raj’s practice radically changes the way that people and companies understand, design, and experience real, augmented, and virtual worlds. As global leader of Acoustics, Audio-Visual, and Theatre consulting, his impact is widespread – from landmark projects in the built environment, to collaborations in art, music, film-making, and innovations in science and technology.

Bill Scrantom, principal

Bill leads Arup’s Healthcare Business in the Americas, delivering resilient medical facilities that improve the patient experience and reduce operating costs. He is expanding the firm’s P3 healthcare expertise in North America and pioneering digitally-enabled medical planning to help clients understand and optimize clinical and building efficiency.

The new board has been assembled to bring the world’s best ideas and advice to clients in the Americas. Its members will drive the vision for the firm’s future and serve as stewards of Arup’s legacy.
